Just Bought a 2018 3721RL - Couple Questions

So I would be interested in hearing from others that purchased this model. I did my PDI and the left front residential refrigerator door was scuffed ver badly. Turns out the door rubbed against the island when slide outs were in during transport. Bottom line the dealer is moving the island in 1/2 inch to avoid the refrigerator door from rubbing. Obviously I refused to sign until I see the finished product. Mechanic told me he has seen several others like this. I also looked at a few other 3721 on the internet and a couple of them also had scuffed refrigerator doors.

Second issue was entry side slide out awning didn’t totally cover the slideout. It looks like it needs to be moved forward about an inch. They told me they couldn’t adjust it or the frame would hit the frame of the main awning when slide out was in.

I’m trading in my 327RES COUGAR for this one and realize workmanship these days is substandard pretty much everywhere. I would appreciate thoughts about my two issues?

We have a 2017 model and absolutely love the unit.

Our fridge door was fine during the PDI but after a short trip and backing up into an angled camping spot we found the island had put a small dent at the corner of the left fridge door.
Dealer was puzzled like us and considered moving the island when after some pondering we realized the kitchen slide was crooked when in the in and out position. They adjusted the slide out on the right side to line up parallel with the lines on the flooring and that solved the problem. By doing that we attained a further 3/4 clearance between the fridge and island.
Our dealer also replaced the dented door without any hassle.

The RV fridge must have a different door shape. Our 3720 hasn't had that problem.

We have the 2016 model with no problem with fridge clearance. I also complained about the slide out awning not covering completely. Was told same thing. The bracket almost looks like its coming out on opposite side. Love the layout.

We traded in our 2017 Laredo 330RL for a 2018 Montana 3721 RL. If the snow drifts were gone it would be home by now . . . . But now getting the auxiliary camera for the FordF350 installed this week and then home to load and get it out the next week.

The layout is similar to our travel trailer but more room and we really like the Montana layout and finishing.

Enjoy your new rig. Let us know how it’s going and what improvements or customizations you make.

PS: we plan to change the hallway bathroom door so that we can access the bathroom with the slide ‘in’.

tBV Ventures, have you come up with a design to change the bathroom door? We have a 2017 3721 RL with I guess has the same pivot door that will not open when the bedroom and hall slide is in. Would really like to hear about your ideas.

The pivot door on those models has been discussed here several times. When we bought our 3720 we had the dealer put regular hindges on it so it would open into the bathroom. Works for us. We're in a Walmart parking lot tonight with the slides in and we're in the bed.

Thanks for the reply. I remember reading about people that have put new hinges on. I will look into doing that.

I bought hinges today and plan on taking the door off tomorrow and see which orientation works best. From where I stand today I think having it open into the hall way and having a magnetic opener (just like on the bedroom door) is a good option.

Like Dick, we followed his lead and modified the bath door to swing in against the toilet. It's the perfect solution.

Re the awning topper, same on ours. Over as far as it will go and still let the main awning clear when opening or retracting. No issues with it though.

We love the layout (3720). Has anyone had an issue with the closet wardrobe clothes rod? This trip we found all the clothes on the floor,Center bracket pulled out (only 2 screws in thin backing), and the clothes rod bent. I would say we had it half full of clothes. While it is a lot of weight it should be designed to manage it.

This seems to be an ongoing issue with a lot of units. Some have installed more secure framework then better clothes rod in closet to correct this issue.

Search this forum, there have been some threads on your issue and some resolutions posted.

That was another issue that we had the dealer fix before we took it. On our old rig, I replaced the bent rod with a home type rod. On the new rig they just added two extra supports and it's been fine and we full time so it's heavy.

Our rod pulled off the wall and the plastic socked broke. I replaced the metal rod with a standard wood closet rod. Then added a 3x3 plywood block glued and screwed to the wall to better support a new metal socket for the closet rod. We also removed the shelf under the short closet rod in the small closet to the right of the big closet. This allows us to move some weight off the long rod in the big closet. We really did not need the shelf. This works well for us.

Bed dimension?

Do you mean the dimension from the wall to the nightstand fascia panel (screen shot below)

In my 3921FB the dimension wall to wall (does not have the wide nightstand or facia panel) is 77” and both shelves are 5” wide -leaving 67” clear between shelves.
