Sewer boom

After wrestling with the sewer hose and coupler, I am wondering if there is something I am missing. I have a high quality sewer hose, if there is such thing and it is almost impossible to connect to the trailer when routed through the boom. Also when I finally managed to connect it, I can only pull out 2-3 ft of hose. I guess my question for you guys is how do you use yours, and do you leave it connected or capped when traveling? Also what kind of hose are you using ?

Check out this thread. I modified mine the same way and am very pleased with the results. I did not stencil the chute, your call on that.

We leave our hose connected (carry extra pieces for those cases when the utilities are spread out) with a cap on the end when traveling. So far, no real problems....

I struggled with mine until I decided to use it only for storage . I even bought a longer tube withy a cap on both ends. I added a valve to the end of the drainso I didn't get any surprises when I removed the cap. I must admit that I got this idea from our fellow MOCCERS "Sheepdog". It also allows flushing the black tank with the water from the gray tanks, an idea I got from fellow MOCCER , John Kohl. I am well pleased with the changes. And for further backflushing , I am now able to use my clear coupler with hose attachment easily. Larry

I use the Rhino sewer hose. I replaced my OEM tube so that the whole hose would fit. The 2010 model had a very short tube and was for the most part useless. The newer models have a longer tube.
I cut the tube to fit the length of the Rhino hose. For me the sewer boom is very convenient.

I also put a longer tube on ours. I leave mine capped when traveling because it tends to still trickle for a while after you dump. I have a Rhino hose also. I have to remove the cap to stretch out the hose because it creates a bit of a vacuum when I try to stretch it out. I also have to leave the lid off when I'm collapsing the hose back into the tube until it's almost fully collapsed. Hope this makes sense.

I'm going to buck the trend here. I removed the tube. Although several tout high praise for this invention, after trying it out, I came to the conclusion it was about as handy as having the mumps. The thing that baffled me the most was unless you install a cap on the hose end, you travel down the road after a dump stringing water for a few miles ... and no my shut off valves were not leaking ... just residual fluid. I installed a door in the lower aluminum panel like my old 2980RL had and fabbed a basket of sorts between the frame and outer panel. I just dump the old fashioned way and coil it back in the compartment I made.

I took my boom off shortly after purchasing my coach. I put on a couple of storage tubes for my hoses and am glad I don't have to mess with the worthless boom any more.

I checked it out and, Got the sawsall and cut it off. I installed a 8' piece of pvc that holds 2 Rhino hoses and all my fittings. I am much happier. When the day comes to trade in our rig I'll just weld it back on or leave the pvc there.

Thanks for all of your help. Looks like I have to figure out what is going to work for me. The DW is going to love it when I tear into the brand new coach. By the way, I'm glad I found this forum. Tired of all of the hostile mine is better than yours guys on that other forum.

I'm going to be reworking mine after I get home from this trip. Probably just adding a longer storage tube, but not sure yet. If it's something unique I'll post it.

Actually we like ours. Did not in the beginning but got used to it. Nice to just shove the hose back in without having to disconnect anything at the fiver. Like others, I put a longer high quality hose, which I can cram in and close, but will extend out about 14 feet when opened up which is good for most sites. The water drippage is because of the low bend at the backside of the tube, and water collects. No good solution I can come up with for that.

I use the boom-10 foot Rino hose connects and I am able to cap the end.Works fine but I have to store the longer hose inside.
