Dometic Remote Thermostat/Switch

I have read most all the info there is on the subject of replacing analog thermostats, but I cannot find anything on replacing the Duo-Therm digital remote thermostat. I have a 2005 2955RL and the thermostat has begun to act squirrly. I would like to replace it with the Hunter 42995. I have all the wiring diagrams I need, but when I remove the remote base I find that it is connected with telephone(modular plug). How do you splice from telephone wire to 18
gauge thermostat wire. From the wall mounting the telephone wire disappears into the ceiling for places unknown and the wiring at the AC consists of two tiny wires having no correlation to the wires in the telephone wire. Guys, I'm stumped.

Look for the Threads on the Dometic Remote Control.
My 2005 Remote Reciever on the wall stopped working entirely earlier this year.
I replaced with the Dometic 3 Button Single Zone on the wall Thermostat (and Control Board in the AC) kit for $120 including expedited shipping and installed myself thanks to OZZ's inputs.
Had to install a new control Board in the AC and used three of the Phone Jack wires (had to remove the phone jack ends/plugs) to wire between the new simple on the wall Thermostat and the AC. Dometic really tried to convince me I needed their 5 Zone $$$ Thermostat that would re-use the phone plugs.
I had the impression that inexpensive normal residential Thermostats would not readily work.

Dometic has a replacement for that system. I includes the thermostat and replaceing the control unit which is inside the a/c unit behind the filter. Do not know what cost are for it

One way to transition from the telephone plug is to purchase a telephone outlet. Plug in and wire the thermostat to the outlet.

The now infamous remote control thermostat installed in 2005 model Montanas was problem for many members. Here is a link to 34 pages of discussion related to this POS. Included in the text is the part numbers you will need to upgrade to the Comfort Control Center (CCC) replacement unit and instructions for installation. Back in the day, Dometic was replacing them for no charge. Today it will cost you. But the CCC is a way better thermostat. The inexpensive Hunter thermostat you desire will not work with the heater and A/C components installed.
