Recall solution~~
Hard to believe this could happen and have units leave the plant this way! Failure on many levels!
Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Crossroads Redwood travel trailers. The ladder on the back of the vehicle may be blocking the secondary emergency exit window.
If a ladder blocks a window that is labeled as being an emergency exit, there is an increased risk of injury.
Keystone has notified owners instructing them to remove the emergency exit sticker from that window if it is blocked by a ladder, free of charge. The recall began on May 23, 2018. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone’s number for this recall is 18-319.

This isn't the first time they have made this mistake. Montana did the same thing a few years ago. Check out this post from 2015:

I get the recalls sent to me by RVTravel. You would not believe what rigs are being recalled for. Stuff that could cause fires, things that affect steering on motor homes, etc. It's not just the floor plan that sometimes doesn't get much thought when they rush these designs thru. My favorate Montana design issue was the rig they showed us at my last National Rally where they had the king bed in the bedroom which then made it impossible to open the doors where the washer/dryer was supposed to go.

It’s hard to believe someone didn’t notice that. The workers on the line probably did and are still laughing.

I suppose the handle to the window needs to be painted black also.

Maybe they noticed and were not smart enough to see it as a problem.

Maybe, maybe not. The person that had the staple gun installing my trim should not be permitted to even be near that equipment. Not sure if that one would be qualified to sweep the floor, he may not know which end of the broom to hold by the looks of what he did.

Workers on the line probably don't own a fifth wheel, certainly not on their salary. They build what they are told to do. I do not believe there is any quality dept at keystone and if so, they certainly aren't engineers or folks with a deep understanding of systems.

I don't have to worry about this issue as our handle broke coming North last month, so it is now tie wrapped closed and Exit sticker removed.

Actually it would be more beneficial for you to start a new thread with your question as it would be seen MUCH more and you should receive many replies on this topic.

With a 43' 5er behind the truck I'm already too close to the max length most states permit with even anything small behind. My boat behind would boost past 80' and no state has that limit.

Emergency Sticker Recall Solition
We have a 2012 3582 and we also had a recall for the marked Emergency sticker on the back window that opens up on the ladder. No way to exit out that way and the Keystone solution to solve the recall was, “remove the sticker and that takes care of the issue”. My response was where did they expect someone to exit in an emergency? They said the window on the left as you looked aft. My comment was that a small child may fit out that window but not an adult. Did not matter they had solved the problem by telling me to remove the sticker and they did not want to discuss any further. Our local Montana factory rep admitted that no one except a couple of people in the factory actually camped. I have seen several comments over the years that the design people that come up with the units should spend time in them before finalizing the design. Doesn’t look that has happened so far.

The "design people" are actually JR HS girls working on extra credit in their economics class.

We have a 2013 3582 and it has the same issue. Keystone says our serial number doesn’t match what they have on the recall so we “aren’t part of the recall” ...
