As y'all are traveling and watching the TPMS what do you look out for as a signal for something gone wrong? Yes, I know hot tires or increasing air pressure, but how hot and how high of air pressure?

We have Sailuns ST235/80R16LRG 14

i just recently had this issue. i had a bonded break shoe come loose and cause some over heating on my right rear break dumb. what i noticed was the temperature on that tire 10 degrees hotter than the rest. also if the tires are on the sunny side of the camper they will also be hotter and higher tire pressures. i'm still trying to figure out the highs and lows of all the settings. my tires are set at around 105 psi and its nothing for them to go over 120 psi. i'm trying to get more data myself to have the alarms go off when needed. hope this helps.

We have the TST monitors, and the manual that came with them indicated that Michelin says problems are when temps exceed 158 degrees. We have the G614’s, and I’ve seen a little over 130, and with temperature rise the pressure goes up. I have the temperature alarm set at the default 158 degrees and only have the low pressure alarm set at 100 psi, and this has worked well for us.

I'm running 17.5 GY G114s at 125psi and see pressures of 148 - 150 while temps seem to run approx 10 to 15 degrees above current air temp, while some rough patches of road will push the temp a little higher, this is all for a TST 507.

We have the same system as Rohrmann and use the same settings.We have never seen a temp near 158 Degrees.

With the Sailuns on the new rig I look for temps aroound 20 degrees hotter than the ambiant temps and pressure less than around 128. I run them close to 108 pounds.

Running G614's at 110 psi, TST TPMS. First trip with them pressure went 130-135 on hot roads in Texas-set off alarm. Adjusted range a little higher and no problems. Temps routinely 15-25 degrees above ambient, especially on the side of the rig facing the sun, and especially in places like AZ and TX. If the road is good (e.g. Interstate) I'll run 70-72. If it gets real hot I slow down to 65 and temps/pressures drop.

Personal belief from having both is that 614's are a solfter tire and give a smoother ride. When we had 614's on the old rig, in AZ on a really hot day, I would see pressures go up to 130 or a little more. Sailuns on the new rig haven't built that much pressure, but do seem to ride rougher. When it's time to replace these tires, I'll probably go back to the Goodyears.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. We just pulled into Hardeeville, SC and all is well. The tires ranged 123 PSI and 95 degrees, give or take a couple degrees depending on tire, over the 320 mile trip. DW keeps a close watch!

I believe the bigger thing to look out for is pressure going down which is more likely to lead to tire failure.

I drove through Phoenix Tue with outside temp of 121 - tire temps did not go much past 130 and pressure stayed around 130 PSI with cold pressure of 110 in Sailuns.

My TST monitor is starting to “act up”. First, the right rear flat lined on a trip to LV. I turned the monitor off and rebooted, and it worked. For awhile. I replaced all the sending unit batteries. Now, one by one, the sending units are flat lining, and reboot takes over an hour and only one or two will send a signal. Anyone have any ideas?

How old are your batteries?

Agree with post 11. I had my alarm go off Last year because of a low tire. I air my tires to 110 psi and the alarm came on at 90psi. I wound up with a cracked wheel. If not for the alarm then the tire would have eventually gotten hot then the alarm would have sounded because of heat build up from low tire.I don't constantly watch my monitor and don't need to with the alarm. My default is set at 90 psi and 158 degrees.

That makes sense! Any major movement either way gets our attention. We feel it is a good idea to never let one's guard down.

We watched a Motor Home pull out this morning (I ran out and tried to flag them down) with their awning still extended. He was driving faster than I could run and sure enough he hit the stop sign leaving our of the RV park. He stopped then!

Our's does the same. I'm thinking of adding a booster. Wireless connection gets lost - seems to happen when we pass wireless towers or highway tracking systems.
