slide- 3120rl

2018....3120rl......went camping everything was fine, came back trailer sat 2 days fridge on gas …...went out put slide out....would not come in. figure battery dead.

but bed slide works. plugged trailer in, still doesn't work, like it is not getting enough juice.....slides were put out when it was not leveled...any ideas?

appreciate any help...….bob

Can you hear the pump run when you try to extend the slides? If neither slide tries to extend, maybe you have tripped something in the pump circuit.

the slides went out.....but wont come in.....also my jacks wont work. does plugging trailer in override the battery?...if battery is dead..even though plugged in...will jacks and slides not work?.....thanks.....bob

We haven't had ours long, and I had shore power connected every time I operated the slides or jacks. I would think that even with a dead battery it should work attached to shore power, but I don't know that for sure. Check the hydraulic fluid level and make sure you don't have a leak. Also, you might try closing the valve to one of the slides and see if that makes a difference. But that wouldn't explain why the jacks won't work. Sorry, not much help. Please let me know what you find.

If you have an electric drill, I think there is a way to manually operate the pump using it. But I don't know how to do it. Hopefully someone else can steer you in the right direction.

You can operate the pump by using a electric drill and a long screw driver bit. Put the bit in backwards and pull the label off the end of the drill and plug the bit in there. But first we need to know, is the battery disconnect on?

key is in and turned on.....looked under trailer and there is a fluid leak.....looked at the oil reservoir it only has a 1/4 inch in it....think I found the problem.

what oil does everyone like? that is also recommended. thanks....bob

Bob,

Welcome to the forum!

The hydraulic system uses Dextron ATF. You may have a simple leak like a loose fitting or something bigger like a bad actuator.

There is a MyLCI app from Lippert you can download that is very helpful sorting out issues - it has the full maintenance manual in it. You can also call Lippert tech service for help.

When refilling the reservoir after the leak is located, put in one quart of Catepillar 1U-9891 hydraulic oil additive in addition to the rest of the oil you need. It will prevent hydraulic "popping" of the leveling cylinders. This condition can be found in detail in other posts.

Terrific Idea!!! But wait until you fix the leak. At $30 a quart, you really don't want to pump it out as fast as you can put in in. Buy the cheapest Automatic Transmission fluid you can find (several quarts at a minimum) and dump it in.

No problem bob, it was just a wild guess. Hope it is just a loose fitting. Where under the trailer was the leak? Please let us know what you find. I have the same model as you. While on the subject, I read another post that suggested spraying silicon on the jack cylinders and wipe them down before you retract the jacks. Helps prevent damage to seals. Don't know if it makes a big difference, but it sounds good.

Oh, and I was joking about the pat on the back. Well, maybe a little serious.
