Interesting. So if we are having the toilet overflow problem, if we throw some dish soap in the flood and turn on the ceiling lights we can at least get rid of the bugs?

Art, it says to fill a pan with water and a few drops of dish soap. Sit it under a reading lamp and it will attract the bugs and they will drown

Wonder if this would work on other critters? We are getting eaten up with small black flying insects in Crystal River, FL.

It works for fleas if you set pan on floor. I used a disposable pit tin

Having spent quite a bit of time in the Crystal River/Homosassa area, I can tell you nothing works for no-see-ums, which are the small black flying insects to which you refer. I have tried just about every idea, home brewed and professional insecticides. They still like to eat you.

I put down a small saucer of Jack Daniels and a small handful of sand. The bugs get drunk and stone each other to death.

That's just a myth spread by the Jack Daniels plant because I wasn't drinking enough. The Dr said I had to cut down to one cocktail a night. Once I bought the 44oz cup to use for my one cocktail the second shift at the Jack Daniels plant was able to re-start and so they owned up to the fraud.

We put out a saucer with the soapy water for out stink bug traveling companions. Didn't attract any stink bugs but there are about a dozen of the pesky little black bugs in there. Unfortunately that number is only a drop in the bucket of the thousands that are attacking constantly. We were once successful in using a saucer of red wine vinegar to drown a bunch of gnats a few years ago. That will be our next effort. Don't rule out the effect of Jack Daniels. When taken internally it does work successfully to numb the effects of the bug bites.
