Duo Therm Penguin Problem

My 600 series rooftop air conditioner with the optional heating unit is not working properly. When turned on, there is only a mild humming sound coming out of the device, with no fan action. As we all know, these things can make a lot of racket, when functioning properly.

I have flipped the circuit breaker several times, covered the gfci options and removed the interior filters to check for loose connections. No joy. At this point, I'm stumped.

Try killing the 12 volt power as well. Re-boot... This resets the controls

Could be the fan shaft has seized up. Take off the cover and see if you can break it loose. Used to happen every Winter on my previous camper.

I have another brand that uses a capacitor for the fan as well as the compressor, if yours has a fan capacitor as well, it may be shot. It may be the fan itself, or any of the previous posts.

I'm with Greg on this one. Make sure no nests are in the fan also.

Check the fan for free turning.
I had CW install one for me two years ago. After they installed the first, they said it was bad and they would have to order another. When I went back to get the new one installed, I spoke with the tech after he finished and mentioned something about the first one being bad and them having to order another. He was not told by the service desk that the first one was bad. He was told to troubleshoot the AC and determine what it needed. (left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing) In troubleshooting, he found the initial installer had tightened the bolts too tight when he installed it and the fan could not turn. The second guy just corrected the installation and it worked fine.
So if yours was possibly borderline on fan clearance, it could have possible settled a little and now has fan interference.
Just another thing to look at.

Hey Bill, we have a spoiled Golden, Sadie. Thanks for the advice. I will look at things this weekend, but it's been a late spring in Michigan, so it might have to wait a bit. I'll let everybody know how things work out, for future reference.

Hey Bill, you stated "So if yours was possibly borderline on fan clearance, it could have possible settled a little and now has fan interference" and that was it.

Thanks to all who responded.

The great thing about this forum is that there is so much varied experience that most likely someone here will have been there before.
