Subscribing to Topics

According to the FAQ it is possible to subscribe to topics and forums and get daily emails. I cannot, however, find the icons refered to in the FAQ anywhere on any of the forum pages.

Quote: "...Or you can click on the subscribe/unsubscribe icons ( ) for that Category/Forum/Topic you want to subscribe/unsubscribe to/from."

These icons do not appear anywhere on any of the topics I am looking at.

Am I missing something obvious?

Thank you
Craig

Look to the right, just above the FIRST post on the page. There are 5 choices there that start out with New Topic, Reply to Topic, and below those, Subscribe to this topic. The same selections are also found to the below the LAST post to the left of center. The icon is not within the post itself, like the reply with quote or PM icons are.

If you don't see the five icons and selections Tom S. describes (specifically there are only four and the "Subscribe" one is missing), then you are likely subscribed to the entire forum. Here is a thread where this was discussed before.

http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34777&SearchTerms=subscribe,topic s

The solution takes one of two alternatives.

#1.
Click on the "All Forums" folder (upper left of page) to get to the first page of the forum. If you have just logged on, you should be there already. There should be icon and line of text on the upper right (below the Login/logout icon and your MOC ID) that says "Subscribe to this board". At least is should say "Subscribe...". I suspect it says "Unsubscribe....." and that is your problem. If you are "subscribed" to the entire board (forum), then you won't see the option to "subscribe" to an individual topic. Click on "Unsubscribe..." and then you will be good to go.

#2 If none of this helps, remember how much you paid for the advice and PM RVWheels for assistance. If anyone can cure what ails you, s(he) can.

OK thank you both. Carl was right, I was subscribed to the whole board which would be OK except I don't receive any notifications of new messages. It seems the only alternative is to subscribe to every topic as the subscribe option only appears for either the whole board or each individual topic. I think I will just use the active topics link.
