Tank heater switches
I've got three un labeled tank heater switches. Anybody know which switch is for which tank? Is it ok to heat if tank is empty? I turned all three on since I don't know what's what and only need to heat one. The other two are empty.

never turn the heat on without water in the tank you will burn out the heating elements depends on year and model normally the electric switch is outside behind the door on and off , gas switch is inside don't know about the third unless you have more than one heating element

I believe the OP is talking about the waste tank heating pads. These are electric heating pads secured to the outside bottom of each waste tank grey/black. I do not know which switch goes to what tank, I just assumed they were in the same order front to rear as the tanks. They are not really needed unless you are in extreme cold, down to zero degrees or you are below freezing and do not run the furnace. the heat from the furnace will keep the underbelly and plumbing warm enough to prevent freezing for most cold snaps. Also I do not believe running these will damage anything if your tanks are empty, because the are attached to the outside of the tank.

On my 2015 3440RL, the tank heaters (blue lights) are labeled for each tank.

Agree, tank heaters aren't robust enough to hurt a tank and only need to be used in the coldest of climates and temps are really low for long periods of time. John

Thanks for the replies! The switches are located inside on the panel with all the light switches etc. No labels. I ran all 3 last night as it was well bellow freezing.

The switches aren't labeled in our 2015 Monty either, but the dealer told us that they are in the same order as the tanks. Is the dealer right? I don't know as we haven't yet camped in cold enough weather to even try the tank heaters out.

I had the same questions about my factory tank heaters when I bought my camper. Mine weren't labeled either and I was told that they were in the same order as the tanks on the rig. Here is some great information on them. Tells when to use them etc.
