Electric fireplace - No heat

When turned on the fireplace blows warm air for 2-3 minutes and then stops.
Anyone have a similar problem with their fireplace. I'm assuming the heater/fan
requires replacement, or can there be a different problem? If the heater/fan
requires replacement any suggestions where a replacement can be obtained ?
Hopefully I don't have to get it from Keystone.

Needs cleaning, but you've got to take it apart to do so. With two dogs, we get to do that a lot.

Tear it down and taske a look. You will be amazed at the dirt, etc that they collect. We have no dogs, cats, etc but we still get a lot of dust every year.

Agree, good cleaning will likely get it running like new.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the original statement says the fireplace blows warm air a few minutes then stops. Does it stop blowing warm air, but fan keeps running, or does the fan stop too? Do the lights go out, or are they on? If it stops blowing warm air, it may be the thermal (safety) cutout kicking off. This can happen if things are really dirty. I've seen these heaters run with so much crud in them you wonder how they ran, but they do. Sometimes the thermal cutout can go bad, I've had two do that. But by all means, do take it out and check for loose connections, dirt, etc. You'll feel better knowing you did that.

Thank you for all the input/suggestions about taking the fireplace apart and clean out the dust. I took it apart and found a bit of dust and fluff, but not a lot. I checked all the connections and put it back together and turned it on and it ran okay for 40 minutes so I turned it off. We are going for a trip in the mountains for a week, so we will be using it in the mornings and evenings, so that will be a good test. I called Dimplex to find out the cost for a replacement heater/blower unit and she quoted me $246.00 Cdn (ouch). The manufacturer is in Ontario Canada.

Send a message via Yahoo to NCFischers
Pull it out, turn it over and look at the bottom panel. If it has one row of vents, call Dimplex and they will sent you a panel with multiple rows. that solved my problem.

We haven't had the lack of heat problem, per se, but last year replaced several burned out light bulbs. We cleaned the accumulated dirt out at that time and can notice that the heat is now much better.

Hi, where do I find out how to disassemble the fireplace heater? Do you have to pry out wooden plugs in the front trim? Thanks in advance for your time.

On ours, yes. After removing the screws, again on ours, the entire unit slides out. Be careful with the front panel as you slide it out. Pretty simple setup, just plugs into a wall outlet.

Hi, thanks I just had a hard time getting wooden plugs out of trim, I think some ozone glued them in. Once I got it apart, I found the fan blower wheel full of dust. I am going to figure out how to put a bigger heat element and blower in unit. I will post my upgrade when it's completed. Thanks for the reply. Don Cunningham, 2010 Montana 5th wheel
