Question Black Water and Grey water issue

When I open the black water noting flows, But when I open the grey water it seems to empty both black and grey water. Has anyone had this problem? Or is this normal? Is it an easy fix or do I need to take it in for service to look at.
Thanks
Dan

Its possible the black tank valve was blocked with waste material and didn't close all the way. Water leaks past it and the waste creates a dam. When you open the black tank valve, very little material comes out. It may be cleaned out by closing the black tank valve and running the flush for three or four minutes then opening the valve. Has happened to me a couple of times.

Thank you that sound like the problem. I hope it is I would hate to take it in for this, but there is no easy access to getting to this value.

If you are not the first owner, it could be that the black stuck open and broke the cable connection and the former owner lived with the issue. Dropping the bottom to gain access to the tanks and valves is a very easy job that allows you to see what the plumbing looks like. Only investigation can resolve what the issue is in fact. As original owner, the problem could be lack of water usage in black tank compounded by ineffective tank flushing regiment with ever increasing pyramid of doom in the black tank, black tank valve not closing all the way, or ??? Good luck on resolving the issue.

Yes, I was lucky enough to get miss labeled valves. luckily I was checking with clean water due to the number of post I read with the same issue. removed the labels and re stuck them to the proper position. I have heard of people painting the pull handles grey and black in case the labels fall off or as in your case, were never there.

I had this, I just unscrewed the handles and swapped since the labels were on the handles.

That being said, this is not the problem that the OP described.

Sounded like it to me. each handle only goes to one valve, if he pulled grey and got black, the valve would be mislabeled. sometimes the simplest solutions are the correct ones.

He said when he pulls one handle, nothing flows. When he pulls the other handle, everything flows.

For switched labels, something flows when you pull either handle, just not the right "stuff."

Unless the gray tank is empty.
