Bandelier, Valles Cadera and Antelope Canyon also sound like areas we would love. I'm adding those areas to the list.

Since we both are still in the rat race, we have about 30 days for this trip. With all these excellent recommendations in New Mexico we may need to adjust our plans and spend more time there. We have previously visited the Moab area and loved Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse etc... Thought we would take in Grand Staircase and Capitol Reef this trip but NM is looking so interesting we may not make it that far west.

Thanks again for all the recommendations. You guys have been a great resource. Both of us are excited to see these areas.

If it is what I am thinking of, Antelope Canyon only lets in like 10 or 20 people a day. And every few years someone dies because of a flash flood. 2 years ago an elderly couple got caught and didn't make it out. It is beautiful from the pics I have seen but like others said - get reservations well in advance.
