Extended service contracts.

5er getting close to 1 yr.old. Considering ext. ser. contract. What are the names of some of most popular? I've heard of some that will rebate part of the payments if the service is not used. Can anyone tell me which companies will do that?

from consumers report extended warranties are a waste of money. also, a number of products on your trailer are under a 2 year warranty.

just put the money in the bank.

Several have posted very positive comments about their extended warranties. Bet you will get responses from them on the specifics you asked for.

We have one and have never used it to date. I would be concerned with one that gave you money back. The whole deal with insurance is that they bank the money and some folks use more than they put in and others less and the difference has to be enough for them to make a profit and stay in business. Giving money back would mean that they are either overcharging to start with or may not be able to pay at some time in the future.

We have always had them on the Montana's and used them. We had RV shield on the 2006 and Good Sam on the 2013 big sky. We have not had a problem using them. The latest bill on the replacement of two holding tanks was 1107.00. Many do give back the unused portion of the service contract premium. Exclusionary contracts are the preferred kind as they clearly state what they DO NOT cover. If you feel that you will have no major failures with your RV or you have the financial resources to cover major failures or you lie to gamble you do not need a service contract. As part of your homework you might want to check the cost of some major failures.

Remember they are NOT extended Warranties but service contracts that cover specific services . Understand what you may be purchasing.

We did not waste our money on the ESP's .Simple something breaks take it to a repair facility, get the proper authorizations from the ESP and let them call you when it is finished. Note that according to the BBB the majority of ESP claims are because the consumer did not understand or comply with the terms of the contract. They are easy to understand If you read them and easy to comply IF you understand that.

Think about it.. Do the homework/I highly recommend them.

We too have a extended warranty and I feel they are worth the money.

Last year we had to have the cooling unit replaced in our frig and the cost was about $1800.00. We have a $250.00 deductible so it was great just to pay that. Hope it doesn't happen, but if something breaks and we have to use it again, that will more than cover the cost of our contract.

I like the peace of mind that it gives me too..

Everyone has different opinions.

Lets say your 4 door fridge goes out after the 1 year warranty that is $3500.00 for my Dometic,I don't know about everybody else but I do not want to dig into savings for that or anything else that goes wrong,I was Lucky on my 2012 and never had any warranty work done to it and when I traded it in on my 2015 I got a refund check for 1700.00 bucks in the mail in 2 weeks out of the original 2K I spent on the Warranty....NO BRAINER FOR ME
