Yet Another Collapse AC Duct

As I was cleaning the 5th today, one of my items was to clean the filters. As I removed all 4 filters I checked the return duct and I could not get my fingers in the duct so went to Lowe’s and bought twelve 1” pvc couplers to install 3 in each return duct. Man what a difference in air flow, also 2 out of the 4 returns had a good part of the return not fully cut out so I opened them up like what
I have marked on this one.

Looking good. Didn't find that either of my two returns not cut properly, but all of my ceiling air out vents were too tall into the ducts and one was cut into the ceiling in the hallway leading to the bedroom way offline so it was up against part of the roof structure and less than 3/4 of the normal output. Hey, normal trailer manufacturing... john

I used 1 1/2 inch PVC 9" long just to make sure it was open way in there and wouldn't contract a little further up.

Everyone keeps talking about 4 air duct returns but our front unit only has 2. It is a terrible design and even worse execution!!!

I thank you for mentioning checking the round outlets for blockage due to poor installation! I'll be looking at that next!

The supply vents are a standard industry part that Keystone has used for years. They extend at least 1/2" into the duct work. It is worth taking them out and cutting them down. While doing that you may find other issues and can correct those. On some of mine I cut every other fin off to inclrease the dump also.
