upgrade wire size??

I currently have 6ga wire from battery to service panel with a IOTA 55amp converter (No charge wizard). I have added the IQ 4 stage charger upgrade and am going to replace my 2 12 volt with 4 6 volt batterys. will I need heaver gauge wire to carry higher the higher amps fron the 4 stage converter?
Thanks

my 50 amp service cable uses 8 gauge wire and is 30 feet long. The 6 gauge wire should handle whatever the converter will put into the batteries, which should only be a high current for a short period of time during the bulk charge part of the charge cycle.

If you were running a high output inverter, then I'd recommend maybe a 2-0 welding cable, but that's a completely different application.

You could google US National Electrical Code Maximum amperage AWG.
I get the following (I've added spaces for formatting):
US National Electrical Code
maximum Amperage
AWG Wire Size Two Current Carrying Conductors Three Current Carrying Conductors
Ampere Ampere
18 7 10
16 10 13
14 15 18
12 20 25
10 25 30
8 35 40
6 45 55
4 60 70
Of course, the numbers must be derated to account for losses over the length of the wire.
