Cleaning the toilet

Okay, folks. I am new to all of this. When routinely cleaning the toilet, can you use the same type chemicals you would use at home? We use liquids such as Lysol or Chlorox Toilet Bowl Cleaners for this normally. I realize that the toilet itself is made out of porcelain and should not be a problem. It is the black water tank and any tubes that connect that I was thinking about.
Thanks. Lynne
