Ya gotta check that latch, regardless of brand to make sure that it actually is holding the pin. You can also invest in a Blue Ox BedSaver. If anyone is interested, I have really dusty BedSaver for a B&W that otherwise looks like new - cheap but it's too expensive to ship

I have had a B & W and currently have a Curt Q24. I would not choose one over the other as both are very good. I would go with the best buy.

The Curt was my first choice at $1100, but then I found a guy here in town that has a B&W he took off his 2016 Ram. He is asking $750 for the hitch. I have to find out what size it is. Weight wise.

Have had BW Companion with turn over ball for 8 years. Solid hitch. Just switched trucks with puck setup. Called BW, they told me to purchase only the puck base for my truck and reuse the coupler I've been using for the last 8 years.

Their customer service and support is outstanding in my book. I'd consider customer service and support as part of your buying decision.

By changing over bases to the puck system you also upgraded the hitch from 18K tp 20K capacity

We got the Curt Q25 in part because you can get that factory installed on a Ram. We love the 4 point puck system and the Curt performs exceptionally well with zero slack in the hookup. Very solid. Hookups and release are very easy. Only down side might be the weight of the hitch but to me that only means it is built like a tank.

I have not owned the B&W so cannot comment for or against it. It does seem to get very good reviews and I hear their slider hitch (if you have need of one--short bed truck?) is top notch.

I have a Curt Hitch, less than a year old.
A bolt from one of the sliding wheels sheared off.
I contacted Curt for warranty repair. They shipped me a new bolt for me to install.
This is what they call Warranty.
Even though I replaced it and feel safe with my repair.
I don’t trust the Hitch anymore. I’m going to replace it with a B&W Companion.
I will never buy another Curt product.

Can't speak to the Curt, but I have the B&W Companion 25k. The 25k is new to their line (as I understand it), but gives me a lot of future-proofing. (Next 5er will probably be in the 24k range...cuz, you know, bigger!)

I'm on a Ford puck system, 8' bed. With a 16.6k 5er back there, my dually diesel with this hitch barely feels it. Definite B&W endorsement here.

We went with the Anderson hitch. It is a goose neck set up that is rated to 24,000 lbs. More than we need, but only weighs 35 lbs. So I can easily remove it myself if I want a full 8' bed for hauling. Seems to work out pretty well. Easy to hitch up and runs really smooth with the 5th wheel.

You might take a look at them if you want to be able to pull out the hitch on occasion.

We have PullRite SuperGlide 18K that rides atop Reese puck system in Ford. Fits under Bakflip cover and love the self adjusting feature. This hitch does require a plate to activate slide features and the weight is 187 lbs less the puck rail. Heavy beast.
No issues thus far and have made several 6,000 mile trips.
Whatever works for you.

I have had both a Moreryde slider and a Husky 25 Manual slider in my old GMC 3500. When I bought a new GMC with the puck system bed I put. Curt Q25 in it. Easy in and out of the truck, 80 lbs lighter than the Husky and very simple hook up. I have a 6.5’ bed and did not buy a slider this time, not needed with Montana rounded lower corners.

Grumpy305 ... I'm just a bit baffled here with your input. A bolt on your slider failed, but didn't harm your fiver. You called Curt and told them of your issue ... they sent you a new bolt ... and you seem to feel that isn't warranty service. They sent you what was broke. Surely one could replace a bolt ... after all, one does have to be handy owning any RV. There are always odd failures with most any product being on the market for several years ... most all of us have experienced the odd one at some point. I get your resolve to abandon Curt ... however, it would take more than a single bolt to throw in the towel for me. Yes I have a Curt and really like the color coded latch which is near fool proof, but I believe the B&W is also a good hitch.

I love that color coded easy to operate latch system too! Not completely fool proof but about as close as you can get to it. Since you can get the Curt factory installed as part of the purchase of a new truck it just makes sense. One less out of pocket expense. Not sure if you can do that on a Ford or Chevy?

I haven't had a B&W but they seem to have a very good rep. I don't think you would be going wrong with either hitch.

Yep - the pull test. Did this once several years ago, with our old Curt. Wife forgot the pull test and away we went - sort of - ha haa. Funny now, but not so much back then. However, love the new Curt Q16 with pucks. Easiest hitch I have ever operated. However, it does nothing about the chucking, that some lucky folks are experiencing.

B & W Companion here in 2017 Super Duty. Love the hitch and the slick truck bed when it's out. As for weight on any of the heavier setups, we cheat.....lol. Bought a spare kingpin, welded a 'D' ring on the top. Lock the pin in the hitch, hook to cheap Harbor Frieght roll around engine hoist and lift. Roll out and set in a corner. Us old guys hate to lift and carry.....lol
