Steve we are scheduled in to the service center Sept 17th. We spoke to Robyne in customer relations and had the schedule confirmation the next day. Our major problem right now is the satellite inputs do not work properly and I will not take the time or effort to find and correct the problem. That problem pales in comparison to the problems you have been having in fact the problem we had with our 06 3400 the first trip out meltdown and all are nothing compared to your experience.

Keystone has been good in repairing every major issue we have had over the 6 years of running the 06 3400. I would expect the same with this unit.

Item # 5 on our service center replace, repair, do something list. In checking tire pressure for a upcoming road trip we see rust on our chrome lug nuts.we have had this Montana 64 days. DiD I mention that this is...BEST YOU CAN BUY, TOP OF THE LINE MONTANA PRODUCT.

We purchased this guy at almost the same day we did the 06 3400 and by Sept of 06 we had a list of 26 items for the service center. Can we do it again. Can keystone match their sloppy workmanship or have they improved....stay tuned.

The 5 listed thus far items thus far only include things the sevice center will deal with not things we have repaired..like the toliet seat falling off, the panty door not installed properly. We are however happy campers..

Your going to have to replace the lug nuts if you don't want rust. There is a past thread of the lug nuts. About $100.00. I know we where not happy either but replacement is the only answer.

replacement yes..Me pay for the replacement...not a chance. If they will only last 64 days then we need enough replacement OEM lug nuts to change out every 64 days for the next 6 years. we are easy to please.

Be sure to tell them there are a bunch of us new (and old) owners who will be asking for the very same consideration as what you get.

I will point out to them that the lug nuts on the BEST YOU CAN BUY, TOP OF THE LINE, MONTANA PRODUCT should not rust in 64 days. I don't expect anything out of them other than another set of OEM lug nuts that will rust in another 64 days.

Robyne has been very helpful to us but then we do not have the level of problems that you have.......yet.

You know I have been through this before with the 06. We spend a lot of $$ on a camper then spend hundreds bringing it up to the standards it should have met at the factory. We spent way more on this one and I was hoping for better. We are not unhappy but we are disappointed at the stupid workmanship issues. We looked at brands that are considered a bit above the Big Sky and saw no better workmanship in them.

The sad part is we have been as a lot of us have been around long enough and are familiar with the Rv industry and we know what we are going to get no matter what the brand..yet we still buy...Maybe that is part of the problem. Oh well..I need a Drinky..

The OEM lug nuts are only chrome plated and as soon as a lug wrench hits them the chrome will scratch exposing the bare steel underneath, then immediately rust. Mine did the same. I cleaned off the rust the best I could then sprayed them with "Never Rust". Further rusting has stopped. Oil or grease might do the same but would attract dirt. The Never Rust dries on and doesn't attract dirt. You can buy stainless lug nuts which would hold up better but even stainless can rust. I suggest you try the spray.

Send a message via MSN to grayghost03
If you are checking the torque as per the owners manual(prior to every trip) you might as well just up for Stainless and be done with it.

I have never touched the lug nuts but it appears that someone did, perhaps the dealer. This thing came off the line 5-3-2012 and the lug nuts are rusting.I am thinking that they should be a bit higher quality on this best you can buy, top of the line, montana product.?????

Rich,

Keystone is keeping the Big Sky affordable by using chrome lug nuts and not installing struts on upward opening doors... Can you image how much that Big Sky would have run you had they used stainless lug nuts AND put struts on the cabinet doors??!!!!

We have rust on our lug nuts also. The tires have been off numerous times due to having wheels balanced (factory should do it) thanks to the Goodyear Marathons (replaced with Michelins) and also for replacing front axle.

All just comes down to expectation and justification... I hope your new coach stands up to both for you in the years to come.

The 06 did Dave. I am just a whiner. I think these things should be high quality out of the factory,,we pay enough money for them.

I may have missed it in the thread, but has anyone mentioned that Rich is actually a time traveler??

I know he wanted the best trailer he could get, but to actually devise a way to travel to 2025 to get his Big Sky is simply amazing!!
