Second set of Sailun S637s

Put our second set of S637s on our 2015 this morning, hit the five year mark, 30K miles. Tires looked great, even wear, and felt maybe I was stupid to replace so soon and go another year or two, but played it safe. Four new S637s, mounted/balanced/new valves, and one old Sailun remounted and balanced as the spare. $703.70 out the door, family owned and operated Tar Heel Tire Sales and Service, Warrenton, NC. Hooha!

I think this is further evidence of what better tires can do for our rigs. I think you made the right call.I delayed after six years on my load range h tires, then had a blowout that caused some damage to the metal skirting. So now I get to remove it and reform metal. Such is life.

I agree it is hard to replace tires when they look good and I have probably less miles than you but when you consider the alternative. You couldn't put a better tire on the rv than Sailuns. Nothing like 'peace of mind'.

Sailuns are dirt cheap - no reason to run them 1 day past 5 years.

I am not sure what I will do. My unit only sees the light of day when being used (around 50 days a year). Even when being used, the slides mostly shade the tires and I keep them lubed up with 303. Other than that it is stored in a enclosed pole building with the level up legs taking most of the weight off the tires. I see no reason for me to change them out at 5 years. I'm thinking 7, maybe even 10.

Here's an interesting article on why even un mounted tires wear out.
