We're going to use my camper as a base of operations while we move over to Kansas during the day to metal detect some private land we got permission to hunt on. I know this is a touchy question for some but I have to ask. Will his weight have any impact on the shower tub that is in my 2000 Montana. I just bought this used and remembering how my Sunnybrook shower tub used to just creak like it was about to break I was thinking I might want to ask. I'm not ever sure he's going to fit in the bathroom as he's 6'5" plus big.

I think you know the answer, it is a risk, and a good chance it will crack. Plastic gets work-hardened and ages, it also depends on how well its supported.

We have lived full time in our 2004, for over 7 years now. We have used the shower at least once a day with NO problems yet. After my triple pass in January and a ICD implant in April I am DOWN to 310 lbs. Wife says at 250 I can get a new 5500.

If you can remove the panels underneath the shower I believe I would try and brace the shower somehow. A few blocks of wood placed in the right location may give you the added support that would be needed.

If there is no foam supporting the tub bottom (there is on our 2011 3400RL) you could fill the void under the shower with spray in foam insulation that you use around windows and doors. I think that would help.

I sprayed foam under mine when I fixed a leak in the drain. if you do that set a heavy block or something in the bottom of the shower to keep it from rising up the foam will make it do that. it won't drain good if you let it do that.

Our shower seems to have more than adequate support underneath it. I am around 300 #s and it has held up very well for almost 10+ years. Unless you can feel or see that it is not supported as it should you will probably be just fine. Good luck. Dennis

In our '05 2955 the drain line would hit the frame and push the drain basket up so the gasket would leak. The fix was to replace the drain with a slightly shorter metal drain made for bar sinks. This let the shower floor move without any obstruction.

I think you have your answer from the guys that fit into that category and have used their showers extensively. People of size can always challenge equipment and there are no guarantees.

I am of the "full figured" persuasion and use our shower without any issues. If you have concerns you could mention that he might have more room and be more comfortable using the campground showers unless you plan to boondock. I would keep him off the ladder and the roof though.
