Thanks for the reply Rich. I think I'll leave well enough alone. If it breaks again, It'll be retired.

Another one for the junk yard. When I plug in shore power, the convection comes on by its self, timed for 26 min at 350 degrees,With the Holidays, no one will return a call.It has never been used., Bill

Bill;
Pretty early for these businesses too be in full holiday mode. You might want to call Keystone customer service and have them contact Apollo for you. They should have more clout than the end consumer.

Bill, Cheryl informs me there is a "Quick Start" feature of some sort on that oven. Not sure if that has anything to do with your oven starting up on its own...

Well, I am really late with this reply but here goes. Our Apollo oven worked beautifully for two years, then in October, in the 1/2 time mode, it wasn't cooking properly, i.e. something that I had made many times wasn't getting done. So, after checking and re-setting and re-cooking, the door latch broke. My husband was able to rescue the meatloaf, the pie had to be finished in the regular oven. New doorlatch arrived and was installed, so I tried another pie and it wouldn't cook, this is in 1/2 time mode. So, I spoke with Lynne and she walked me through a test and informed me that we had a bad "heater box". They don't have a list of authorized repair places and told us to find someone who works on microwaves, similar to Panasonic. They would send part, which is $45. and a wiring diagram, if needed. Having arrived at our Winter spot, my husband called a repair service this morning and they said labor will be $90. Now, having read this post this morning, I am wondering if we should just get a new oven, somewhere????? I love the half time feature and hate to think of not having the same type oven. However, would be nice to have one that doesn't self destruct so readily.
Thanks for letting me vent.
D. Rau

Well, I too, have this oven. Rig is in storage over winter (dealer). Will have to wait until then to check it out. If this oven ends up getting recalled, will someone please post here?
Thanks Phil P.

I guess we've just been fortunate. Ours works great. Exactly as advertised. Vicki loves it. It does a better job than the gas oven because it cooks evenly, does all the browning, and cooks just like a gas oven should, but in half the time (plus the four minutes warmup time). I'm hoping ours never fails as we really like this thing. I'm hoping the problem units remain in the minority.

An update on the Appolo oven. I received a call this morning. I explained the problem, the lady said she hadn't heard about that happening, and checked with the tech. She called back, they will bench test a new one today, and ship it tomorrow., I'm to return mine so they can find the problem.
Thanks to all for the very helpful information. I've learned much from this website.I'm looking forward to the Buellton,Ca rally, Bill

Sue loves hers, we have also been lucky, I guess, (knock on wood) I have noticed that it is much more powerful that my commercial panasonic at home, me thinks there is a problem with the Panasonic, I'll do a test on it when I get home.
If I have to go home......

Dsprik mentioned those after a certain build date seem to be better. I hope that's correct as I think ours is one of the later ones. As much as we like this oven, we could not tolerate an 8-month lifespan.

The build date on mine is August'06.I heated a cup of water in the micro during the PDI .thats the only time that it had been used.It "powered up" on its own, when I plugged in the shore power I hope the other one will be different. Good freindly response from Western. Bill

We are are on our second oven and I only used the first one three times before it broke. I guess I need to cook some of my Christmas dinner out there to make sure it is working. We haven't had the Monty out camping much since we bought it so the second one has only been used twice.

The lady at Appolo says that the reason the ovens fail so often is because the operators do not know how to use them and they are going to launch a "consumer education" program. Most of us need to sign up since apparently we do not know how to use them///// I can throw away my hearing aid as I have now heard everything..

If you get a url for that education, be sure to pass it along to me.. If it can break, I'll probably manage to break it. Ours has had only 4 months of fairly heavy usage so it's probably too early to tell if ours is going to avoid the early death.

Lynn, the nice lady at Apollo warranty is sending out " Parts" for our broken unit and has arranged for a local Havasu repair facility to come to our unit for the repair all at no cost. Why does this story sound familiar????We have decided that we will replace the Apollo unit with one that can be relied upon and will spend the time finding one that will fit.Already some good information from the forum. Meanwhile the Irish lady I am living with is directing some very naughty words Apollo's way///// Another Apollo saga begins..

I will mention again, Home Depot has a Magic Chef convection/microwave/grill on sale now for $99.00. It was $119.00. It is stainless steel and the dimensions appear to be the same as the Appollo. It appears that it will fit in the Appollo frame.
