Great looking idea. Did you weld that up yourself and if so what did you use. I have always wanted to be able to create/fabricate what is in my mind but over the years I failed to learn the art of welding.
Thinking of getting a Mig welder and just diving in?

Nice job Dennis! Do the two arms running back under the front cap get secured to anything? Will you leave it on while towing?

The 2 long arms will bolt to the existing hitch using two unused holes on it now. I will have to drill two more 1/2 holes. I will leave it on permanently but will be easy to remove if need be

I used a $170.00 Sears mig welder. 120v model. I an not a welder but my son is going to school for it and gave me tips as I welded it together. This is really my first time doing it. Takes some practice and grinding afterwards but worth it. I use 2x2. 3/16 angle steel and 1" tubing for flags cut on 45 degree angle. Center pipe is 1 1/2" pipe welded straight on top of angle steel. I box the back end with other 2x2 because of a little goof on my part but prefer it this way because when mounted appearance look better like a straight 2x2 square tube . Guess I could have bought 2x2 square tubing and saved some time

Looks great and sturdy as all get out. I'm sure you won't need 1/2 inch holes 3/8 or 1/4 should provide sufficient sheer force.
Don't forget to drill drain holes When it rains they will not fill up with water or freeze and crack in the winter.
