2011 3455SA Information

Hello, we just bought a 2011 3455SA last month and are still learning about it. It seems like a basic question but I have had no luck finding out --- how many grey water tanks do the new Montana's have? One or two? The monitor panel shows "Grey 1" and "Grey 2". Grey 1 tank level goes up with shower and bathroom sink use. The Grey 2 tank level light never goes above "E". Running water in the kitchen sink for a while had no effect on the Grey 2 light. It stayed at E.

Before a ask the dealership to fix the Grey 2 tank level light I better find out if there is actually a second grey tank!

BTW, the Keystone owners manual is a disappointment. Does anyone know a source for Montana specific user and/or technical manuals? The only good documentation provided with the 3455SA are the component manuals.

Thanks. I look forward to being a part of the forum.

Regards,

Pat

Pat, our 2010 Montana 3455 has two grey tanks as do most models. I suspect you have not found the 2nd (kitchen) grey tank valve and it obviously is in the open position. If you stand outside and face the tv slide you will find the valve handle underneath the slide tucked very close to the left hand side protruding out of the trailer frame. You should also check the tightness of the nut holding the valve into the frame as ours was extremely loose. Also the screw holding the handle on the valve rod was very loose and ready to fall off. We re-installed that screw using lock tight. Hope this helps and welcome to the MOC family!!!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. You will find that the best source for technical information is the forum, what you got in the form of manuals is what there is. The two gray tanks are the galley tank and the shower and sink tank as you have discovered. Double check to make sure the galley tank lever is not pulled and in the open position. You will learn that the level indicators are not very reliable anyway, regular dumping of the tanks has become our normal operating procedure, we don't even look at hte level indicators any more. If you cannot find the other gray tank lever to pull, on some older models it is located between the tires on the off-side of the rig (that is where it was on our 3400), I don't know if the newer models still like to hide the galley lever. Let us know what you find out!

DarMar & bncinwv,

Thanks for the information and the great welcome into the MOC family! I will look for that hidden galley grey tank valve handle when the sun comes up. \Pat

Pat,
Welcome to the MOC. Where is upstate, SC?
As Bingo said, we never pay attention to the indicators as they are extremely unreliable. Most RV's are the same way. There are many threads on this topic on the forum.
We're going to be at Willow Tree Resort in Longs, SC on January 14,15,16 and 17th. Come and join us. We'd love to meet you.

Jim,

I am confused. Don't see the rally at Willow Tree Resort in Long, SC? Ralley calendar show Tampa, FL. Cindy and I would love to go if it is in SC.

John,
It's our own personal rally. It's a long weekend and my birthday weekend so we're going to spend it at Willow Tree. Vickie and I would love to have you join us. No agenda, just relaxation and campfires. Last year, Bob & Pam and George and Rosetta joined us.

We have a 2011 3455SA and it took a heck of a time to find the valve for the second grey tank. Look on the TV slide as suggested, it's there! In fact after a 30 minute search we noticed a sticker that said "Grey water" on the side of our slide. It was a DOH moment!
Welcome to the forums. There is a lot of great advice here!

Jim,

Will talk to Cindy, do you have a site #? We are going to Myrtle Beach State Park, 10-28 to 10-31. Some place close to Charlotte on Thanks Giving weekend.

We also have the 3455SA 2011 model year. Ours is now 2 months old. As stated by others it is on the TV slide if you can't find the handel check for a silver rod sticking out. Our handel came off in my hand do to the locking screw was not tight, I didn't loose the handel but the screw was lost and had to just get a new set screw. To give you an idea on haow long before needing dumping it is usually around 4-5 days with doing dishes 2-3 times a day for 2 adults. Hope this helps

This was one of my first questions after using our 2010 3455SA. Welcome to the club. Your next question will be why you can't turn off outside lights ( this would be covered in the remote control issues ) and why your vent a hood doesn't vent. The vent outside has plastic latches to prevent it from opening- simply move them to allow the flap to open when necessary.

Remember - if the remote turned it on , it must be used to turn it off.

Welcome to Montanaland !

Thanks everyone for all the replies! Yes, Diana and I have had our first DOH moment. Now we know why there is that "Grey Water" sticker on the bottom of the TV slide The valve was open.

Happy birthday Jim. I think we are headed for Texas in January so we can't commit to Willow Tree. At least not this time.
