Bad Batteries

We've had our 5er sincw Feb. 2000 and have had to replace battery 3 times. Each battery has ended with bad cells in them. And since Furnace, LP detector, and refridgerator opperate off battery as well as slide-outs it is a problem.
What would cause them to go bad in just a few months?
