Florida Trip

I was wondering who out there has stayed at a Walmart or like place while traveling to florida. I will be en-route on the 24th of April to arrive on the 25th. I really don't want to go to a campground but just grab some sleep and start out again. I assume that sleeping in a rest stop is not allowed in any state. My point of origin will be Chester VA.

Rex, it all depends where you are headin in Florida. Just know that by April 24th you won't have any problem finding a campground...cheap! The snobirds will be heading out of here right after Easter which is March 23rd this year. I-75 and I-95 going North from Monday, March 24th will be busy! Unless of course there is no Global Warming up North! Lake City Fl RestStop on I-75 I believe allows overnight. The stop also has Highway Patrol camped out there or at least they use to. Not sure about I-95 which is probably the way you'll come down. Just know the Season changes on rates right after Easter here. Watch the procession heading North as you head South!

I already have a reservation at the Disneyworld campground. I have always wanted to stay there one time.

Yepper. Here is a "click" for a cheap book on Walmart that don't allow overnighters. ummm. a dodge would certainly give me their "name" wouldn't they?

http://rvbookstore.com/shop/detail.aspx?p=205&m=2

Like the above item says, those that don't allow overnights are posted. You could guesstimate your travel and stop spot and then look up Walmart. com for store locations where you want to stop on your travel line before you leave VA. We even know a couple that stayed one night in a motel parking lot in their RV. Not sure if I would but so???? /Good luck.

Look up Cracker Barrel restaurants on your way. I think their web site lets you look by state. They have some stops with RV parking which to me would be a little more preferable than a Wal-Mart. Of course, the best thing is you can get fresh Pecan pancakes before you leave out in the morning.

I've stayed at several Cracker Barrels (always ask manager) but I'll have to disagree on the best thing from Cracker Barrel....it's Uncle Herscel's Breakfast with country ham!!!! Ummm Ummmm.

The Wal-Mart in Yulee, FL permits overnight RV parking. Take the first exit in Florida and turn left onto HWY 17. Stay on 17 to the first traffic light and turn left (east) onto A1A. The Wally World is about 4 miles down the road on your right. To return to I-95, exit the parking lot and turn left (west) onto A1A remain on A1A to I-95.

For future reference here is a link to a website that contains info on overnight parking sites nationwide. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/OvernightRVParking/
