New 3400RL
Ok, you've all gotten us all fired up on a new 3400 that we are going in today to put some earnest money on a new one and order it in the sapphire scheme.
I do have a question or two about it.
1. Have any of you had any problem with the Duo-Therm digital thermostat?

Don't know anything about the Duo-Therm, but congrats on your new purchase. The sapphire blue is beautiful!

We have not had any trouble with it. We got this 3295 in the middle of Nov.

We have the new 3400rl in shappire also, congratulations. We haven't had problems with the t'stat at all. Only thing we noticed was the heat was uneven throughout the coach. We solved that with adjustable floor louvers from Lowe's for about $30.00. Other than that it has been great.

Rickety, we have a 2007 3650RK w/ Duo-Therm Stat. It seems to work well, we haven't had any problems with it. What problems have you heard about?

Delivery will be sometime in March, as far as thermostat goes, I haven't heard about any problems, I just remember the one we used to have here in the 3280, wasn't digital, and tmep was held to about 4-5 degreese of whatever was set BAD, replaced it with a hunter and is great.

Congratulations on your selection of a 3400RL. Very good choice. As for the thermostat, I replaced my old remote thermostat with the Dou-Therm and haven't had any problems with. Enjoy your new rig.

If you have a fireplace you will have a problem trying to run the fireplace and the furnace at the same time. The thermostat is right above the fireplace. On cold nights (in the 30s or lower) I will run the electric fireplace at about 80% and the furnace for the belly. I have to do a delicate balancing act with the two thermostats to get the furnace to turn on very occasionally, while keeping the fireplace up to keep the coach semi-warm. We keep our BR door open and it allows some of the warm air from the fireplace to get upstairs.
This system has worked well for us down to 18 degrees. Also would like to note that the places we have been in this type of cold weather, we were not paying for eletricity. I would re-evaluate if electric was charged...
This summer I will move that thermostat to the stove side of that cupboard. It will be able to run in an non-artificially heated environment.

It keeps this 3400 within 2 degrees of the set temp. Works very well.

(I don't even want to get into the problems with the remote)  . I understand you are getting it from Tacoma, I contacted them this week to request a price of a new Big Sky and got an answer back "I cannot currently give you pricing on the Bigsky...", very interesting as I have other prices in hand from dealers that want my business  .
I am sure you will enjoy your new rig.

Ours has worked good so far, seams pretty close to the temp in the room. When we run the fireplace and heater as Dave said it is hard to balance the heat, the fireplace is not enough heat alone when it is real cold and the fireplace I think makes the heater shut off and run less.. did'nt think about moving it to the kitchen.

Rich and Phyllis, Great choice! I bought mine in Sep 06 and haven't stayed in it yet but sure am anxious to do so. We plan on starting fulltiming this summer. As someone else says in their sig: We are going to simplify our lives.......Good luck and hope to see you on the road.
By the way, I have a garage full of accessories I have been buying. I figure to do a little each month until we hit the road.
