New slide cover awning
I have a 2012 Montana 3400RL. I bought this at Lazy Days in Tampa, FL.
On the lot were 3400RL's that had slide awnings installed from the factory. Mine how ever did not as none of them had the level up system which I wanted. The kitchen slide awning had the anchor bracket actually on the top flange not below it like all of the others slides. This was because of the top refrigerator vent was too close to the corner for the bracket to go there. Now all of these as I'm describing were brand new from the factory. I had Camping World install awnings on all the other slides other than the kitchen slide. However, they would not install it on the kitchen because of the location the bracket had to be. I returned to Lazy Days at a later date and they would not install it there either. Sounds crazy to me.
Has anyone out there had this same problem? Has any one had problems with one that was installed as I described from the factory? I am ready to put one on myself but not sure of the screw size for that bracket. I would sure appreciate any feed back.

Our previous Montana, a 2008 3400RL came from the factory with toppers on all 4 slides. They were A & E toppers and looked/functioned good. Not a problem with them for 4 years.

Our 3800RE has the fridge about three feet in from the corner of the slide so that the slide topper brackets are all mounted the same...ie, on the very top area of the slide BUT NOT on the slide flange area. Of course, since you saw that the factory had done it to several units that were on the lot then someone at the factory thought it okay. It isn't like there is a lot of tension being applied to the mounting points from the slide toppers... I just my question would be 'did the factory put some kind of backing structure behind the flange when they installed the slide topper in that area? Not much help to you, just thoughts. John

Tiara RV in Elkhart put our slide toppers on and either cut down a bracket or bought one that goes around the frig vent. My guess would be they bought it, but who knows. It has more screws in it and is cut to fit around the vent, but other than that it's the same hardware the other toppers have.

When we bought our 2010 and added the toppers, the dealer first indicated thay toppers could not be installed because of the upper fridge vent. 5 minutes after I pulled out the dealer called me back. A keystone rep was on site and gave instruction along the lines you described. Tell the dealer to. Call keystone and then get on with the installation.
