Is Formaldehyde still an issue on new rigs?

I remember in the past that new rigs sometimes had the formaldehyde odor present that could burn eyes, aggravate breathing problems, etc. Do the newer rigs still have this problem? The reason I am wondering is Cathy and the youngest daughter have Asthma problems and I am wondering if we will have to allow for some airing out before being able to use the new rig. Experiences and feedback from some new model owners is definitely appreciated here.

Several refrigerator boxes of baking soda strategically placed will help (it did when ours was new), especially when it's closed up.

Best of luck with the new rig!

Our 2010 smells pretty strong of "new" whenever it's closed up for a while. Not sure if it's formaldehyde, but it's definitely from the carpet and building materials. We don't notice after we've been in it for a while either because it's aired out or we get used to it. My opinion is that many RVs have an indoor air quality issue and need to be ventilated.

Your question piqued my interest so I googled formaldehyde and trailers and came up with this link:

http://www.bsu.edu/IEN/archives/082506.htm

Then I added Montana to the search and found a link on Keystone's website to this one:

You might consider leaving all the vents open after you get the vent covers installed.
