3725RL Tank Observation

I had noticed that the underbelly material seemed to be pushed down where my black tank and one gray were located. I was really starting to worry because I could not recall when I picked the unit up if it looked exactly like that. On our way out of SW Florida today we stayed the first night on the road at Lazy Days CG. I went over to their sales lot and found another 2014 3725 Montana and climbed under for a look. It looks the exact same as mine so I feel much better now. The tanks must be mounted slightly lower than the frame, or at least I hope so.

I just went out and looked at mine and saw the same thing you describe. I got underneath and pushed on the liner and found a little sag in it making it look as the tanks were pushing on it but everything seemed fine just a little sag don't see where it would become a problem.

Maybe PackerFan, CaptJoe, and some other owners of newer 3725's will be along to confirm that they are all like this. I agree Tim, I pushed on mine and the tank seemed solid, which I guess it would be since it would be all hooked up to the plumbing, but I was getting worried that the supports were failing.

Joe, Mine was that way too. I wanted to be sure so I pulled it down and had a look. Everything was ok. After looking everything over I put self tapers and washer in each floor(frame) stringer. Two in each one and it looks a lot better, plus it takes some stress off the outside screws.

I found out that ours was caused by water getting in while going through rain. After going through a fairly heavy rain storm last year, I pulled over to use the loo. When I got to the rear of the truck I could see water running out the side through the slight gaps. They really don't do a very good job of sealing the edges and the aluminum strips are close to a joke. I dropped the front underbelly a month or so later and everything had dried out (insulation wasn't fiberglass). I picked up some U channel aluminum stock at the local big box hardware place, added some clear silicone caulk, and screwed it all back together (used the old pieces as templates so I wasn't making new holes anywhere). With ours, the street side material was only held up by the propane line. Fixed that as well. So far, that part is still flat, but I wouldn't be surprised if it simply sagged some from it's own weight over time.

Yup, ours has a slight bulge as well. Insulation?

You know I never thought of that possibility. I guess it would be reasonable to assume that there would be something besides the bare tank touching the bottom membrane. Maybe someone who has done a factory tour observed the tank install process.

Ours sags down a bit as well, all appears to be ok, I think you are good to go.

Being the inquisitive guy I am, I've already had our basement walls apart and actually crawled into the area in question while tracing a wire. It's actually quite open in that area. I can see the tops of both tanks, see the connections, do the "touchy/feely" thing, etc. Can even see the galley tank, which is mounted much higher than the other two. On ours, they are secured pretty well, so doesn't seem to be any issues there. I was checking the furnace hoses, and the water heater while in the area in question. I could fit between the wall braces and actually was laying on the floor above the tanks. Waved at the DW through the air intake grill below the storage cabinets. That area benind the basement wall is quite large and roomy, if you ever need to work on something in there. Also got a nice view of the "rat's nest" they call wiring at the electrical distribution panel. Checked as best I could for anything amiss, didn't find anything that jumped out at me. Of course, I did vacuum up a bucket's worth of sawdust, etc, while I was in there.

Maybe it's time to take some of the junk out of your basement so it won't sag so much!!

I first noticed the slight bulge while we were dry camping with 3 full tanks. Man-o-man was I nervous they were going fall out for fail during the short trip to the dump station. Now, I know the bulge is normal and they'll just fail whenever they feel like it.

The insulation in the underbelly is foil insulation. Make darn sure the bulge is not water in the underbelly. My underbelly bulge was about 60 gallons of galley and gray water.

remember water weighs 8.33 lbs per gallon 40 gallons =333lbs pushing down on the ABS plastic tank. They are not supported underneath. The tanks in our 13 3402 do not come close to touching the underbelly
