Low Clearance Warnings

Is there an app that will provide low clearance warnings? Best one?

New units are 13'6"; the same as OTR truck. My last was only 12'6" so I need something to prevent an expensive haircut.

All Stays App shows low clearance bridges and such but no alert. I use that app and also a trucker atlas to check routes where I will be off the main interstates and highways.

Several RV and Trucker GPS's will route based upon your rig height and I think they may provide an alert (don't have one to say for sure)

We use an RV GPS and we input the height and length of our rig. It is supposed to navigate us around places we don't fit.

I was looking for the same type of app. I'm going to put on the front A/C unit and that will put me in the 13'+ range.

I fount this app: low clearances.com

Says you can load subscription on to multiple devices and they have a special that included Canada for $5 more.

Haven't bought it yet but it looks like it will work.

Allstays app has them listed. You input into the filter what heights you want flagged.

We use the Garmin 760 RV GPS. Large screen and good views. You set you RV parameters into the GPS and it will guide you around problems areas.

It's the RV9365. We've had it about three years now.

lowclearances.com app is only $19.97

Also, from their website:

Be aware that the Trucking and RV GPS units that come with their own low clearance data pre-installed only have about 1500 locations.

Also, the free databases that are available on various websites only have between 300 & 500 locations, and are typically very inaccurate and out of date.

Our data comes with over 7000 locations (USA) and over
1000 (Canada). Extremely accurate and regularly updated.

Sounds like you're pretty happy with it. We're looking at the Garmin RV 770. It's compatible with Garmin's wireless backup camera which I would LOVE to have for backing up the rig.

Yes, that would be cool!

We are happy with it except for one thing - it sometimes gives you wrong directions when you are starting out. It helps to have an idea of where you need to go so you can ignore the GPS when it is wrong.

Have an rv gps, but always review my truckers road atlas for low clearance on the routes we take. Has never put me in a bad situation yet.
