Likely bad/old caulk. What is the year of your Montana?

I know on my unit the seal on each side of the slide on the bottom doesn't exactly do the best job. I can see daylight when looking there, so depending on if you had any wind accompanying the rain it could let some moisture in. My Arctic Fox had much better seals on the slide outs, three seals instead of two and I couldn't see daylight anywhere. All of this is assuming the wet spots are near the slide. :-)

I had this problem on my Montana.
What I discovered: Water had seeped in near the head of the bed on both sides and soaked the carpet.
How I fixed it: On the outside of the slide at the bottom is a piece of trim about 5 inches tall (there is an identical one at the top of the slide) It runs the length of the slide. When I inspected it I found that the caulking had separated. I carefully removed the caulk, cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol and applied new caulking. I pulled up the section of carpet that was wet and dried it with a hairdryer. After it was dry, I re-secured the carpet. It hasn't leaked since and that was 2 years ago.
Hope this helps.

X2 for us, except that we have to recaulk about every two years since we winter in the South West and summer in Kansas the caulk tends to deteriorate over time in the sun.
