connecting two batteries

I have two 12 volt batteries in my 2003 3255RL Montana and I would appreciate confirmation that I have connecting them correctly.

I have posted a link to a picture below

Red wire from RV (power?) is connected to 1st batteries positive terminal. 1st batteries positive terminal is connected to 2nd batteries positive terminal.

white wire from RV (ground?) is connected to 1st batteries negative terminal. 1st batteries negative terminal is connected to 2nd batteries negative terminal.

I have a replacement hydraulic pump installed and it have a thin white wire (ground?) which I have connected to the 2nd batteries negative terminal.

Any help would be appreciated. Hope you can see the photo as it makes the questions pretty clear.

Thanks

I'm not the electrical guy here, but when I had 2 12v's I connected the coach positive to the first battery and the coach negative to the second battery and then connected the two the way you've done it.

I have a 2 battery 1kw inverter for the fridge. If your RV is wired correctly your tow vehicles alternator is wired through the 7 pin RV plug to the RV Battery Positive side. This will charge the RV battery while you are running the tow vehicle engine and thus keep the battery charged to run the fridge Inverter. There are some who put larger alternator in the tow vehicle if it does not already have a heavy duty one.

It has been a few years now but if I remember I had to install in the fuse Box of my GMC for the charging line again if I remember was in a plastic bag in the glove box.

My only comment would be that you might consider moving the ground cable from battery 1 to battery 2 as shown in this link. Have read somewhere before that it would be more likely to charge the batteries more evenly due to minor resistance differences with your wiring configuration. Wish I could remember where I read that.

I'll confirm what Dick and Bill are remembering is correct. The positive needs to come from the first battery and the negative from the 2nd (last if more than 2) battery in the sequence. This is needed such that the draw and charging both occur across the set of parallel batteries versus pulling/charging from just one side.

You have got it wired right for 12V in parallel. I second BB_TX's suggestion to attach the coach's positive cable to one battery and the coach's cable to the second battery. It results on better battery equalized charging.
