Ever misjudge a road abnormally?
Fresh off not selling Montana we decided to visit Bodega Bay for the weekend. While crossing the beautiful wine country via Napa and Sonoma, I miss judged a dip in the roadway! Oh my gosh it was one that scared "stuff" out of me! I swear it did not look that bad, and I was not going very fast? I got to our destination and no broken glass or signs of damage. I have had bumps that got my attention, but that one kinda got by me! Spoke to a fellow traveler who found the same bump. We both felt the same way and had a good chuckle! Ever happen to you ! Lol

We have experienced a couple of those traps also, and like you survived with minimal damage, mostly rearranged cargo inside the rig. That is the biggest reason we are seriously considering an upgrade to IS. Don't know that it will help with the bad roads, but just think it will avoid having a spring failure at a bad location at the wrong moment.

Yes, been there a few times. Makes me wonder just how much these units can take before doing some serious damage.

Michael, I feel your pain. I thought where I grew up (Illinois) I was an expert on dips and pot holes big enough to swallow a person on a bicycle (with helmet of course)......that was until we traveled to California!

There's a section on I-40 in eastern OK that will do it for you. Even IS doesn't make you feel good about that little stretch.

Used to be one of those surprises coming down Raton Pass just north of Raton, near the bottom as road was leveling out and you thought smooth sailing ahead. But rather than a dip, it was a bump, a sudden rise and just as sudden drop. Scared the heck out of me the first time as that was at interstate speed. Was there every year for several years before they finally fixed it. But after that first time I knew to slow down the next years we went thru there.

Have not had that experience on a road but I missjudged a dip in a parking lot in Arkansas and broke off the bottom of the ladder. Anyone have a roof ladder for a 3400 for sale?

Driving to Alaska will give you plenty of practice for that. In British Columbia, they start off with nice signs warning of frost heaves, but the further north you get (as in "Yukon") the nice signs are replaced with sticks stuck in the ground with red or orange cloth tied to them. You learn to watch for them!

We did a RR xing in Wisconsin on the way back from our dealer a few yrs ago, I was only doing 40 and I saw the car in front of me take a huge BOUNCE. I got on the brakes as soon as I saw him bounce. I don't think the wheels actually left the ground but the springs did completely unload then came down with a crash. End results were bent back axle, collapsed magazine rack and the bottom of the couch drawer blown out. We got the axle re bent in Goshen, the magazine rack I finally got glued back together and Keystone replaced the masonite, particle board drawer with the plastic tub drawer. There is a bump on Lamb north bound but I almost stop when driving there..

South of the border on the way to San Felipe Mexico. Pot holes that will swallow a Honda and a couple hidden "topes" (speed bumps). Actually cracked the frame at the king pin in my old SOB. Finally just left her down there on my lot to avoid the nonsense. Now the roads are nice and paved but for years you just never knew what you were going to hit.

That bump, or is it a dip?, on Lamb just about takes your breath away the first time through. Yes, with the trailer, you almost need to come to a stop.

I was in Wyoming we passed several bump ahead signs. Wasn't any bump until the last one. We were pulling a 27 foot fiver. My head hit the sealing of my truck. It was a rear kitchen model, you know where I'm going with this. Unloaded all the cabinets. We had one coffee cup left in all the mess. That will be my last RK fiver.
