New Propane Tank

If you buy a new propane tank is there anything that needs to be done to it before filling it the first time?

I bought two from Lowes last year and there was a purging process that the propane dealer went thru. Wasn't much, but just let them know the tanks are new.

X3, the purging only takes a minute or so to do, but it must be done to get the air out of the tank.

Thanks so much for the input, much appreciated. We'll burn lots of propane at Quartzsite in the Onan so I will pick up a spare 40lb tank at Lowes tomorrow and have it purged.
