Fridge no longer working on AC

Got my trailer out of storage to de-winterize, only to find out my Dometic RM 2862 fridge no longer works on AC, only on GAS. Checked circuit breaker, etc. to no avail. I have never had any problems with the fridge until now. Has anyone else had such a problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the 110v wiring somewhere unless the power module on the fridge is broken. Make sure there's 110v at the plug where the fridge plugs in which might involve moving the fridge to get to it. If you don't see 110v there, then swap out the CB (they might look good but still fail), or move the switch up and down a few times. Then there's a loose wire somewhere in the rig from the power distribution panel to the fridge outlet. While in storage it has been known for rodents to gnaw wires and mess things up.

If there's 110v up to the fridge then it's time to check the fridge itself and hopefully members can help in this part.

In the meantime, the 12v/propane option is a suitable alternative but does mean keeping an eye on the propane. I've been without the RV fridge and there's no suitable alternative to that.

Let us know what you find. Thanks!

Excellent advice above. Also, the electric heating element should be checked for proper resistance. The elements deteriorate with age, although with diminishing capacity for cooling vice sudden death, but LP will still work. Thermostat should also be looked at, even though working with LP. All this after checking the 110 run to the refrigerator. Having said all that, unless a simple wiring issue, usually a CB problem.

Try this website ... http://www.gasrefrigeration.net/dometic_manuals.htm
It list the troubleshooting in detail although 2852 is the closest model number. There appear to be fuses on the lower circuit board.

Ours failed to work on AC because the 110v wiring loom under the slide was pinched which caused the wire to break. Do you have 110v at the outlet?

Thanks for everyone's input, I really appreciate it. One of many reasons this forum is so awesome. I connected an extension cord to the fridge and plugged it into our camping spot pedestal and it worked Now I need to find out why I lost power to that outlet. A loose or pinched wire might be the culprit. Thanks again! Robert

So, we finally found the problem with our fridge not working on AC. It turns out the plug (it's flat, clear, and rectangle) that is used to go from a round cord to romex had one of the wires not pushed down all the way and the plastic cap that keeps the 3 wires pushed down had popped up. This plug is under the fridge on the inside. Once we removed the cover from under the fridge, we found it.

Thanks for sharing the fix! Another one for my troubleshooting guide that I always take with me.
