Fairview Propane Regulator on my 2011 Montana

Had trouble this weekend with my regulator and noticed it was not a Marshall. It was a Fairview. Most threads I have read on this forum have been on the Marshall. Any experience with the Fairviews and do other 2011 Montanas have these installed as well?

Dui,
We have the Fairview 144-GR9984 RV AUTOMATIC CHANGEOVER REGULATOR on the driver side, but I could not see a mfg marking on the one on the passenger side. The only number I could find on it was "GR-618" with "dhp" and made in China on the back of the red regulator. A search of DHP, Fairview and Marshall yielded negative results. Our rig is a 2010 built in early 2009.

Yep, our Fairview GR9984 went bad at about a year old. I replaced it with a Marshal 605. Haven't had a problem since. Our unit is a 2010.

Joe, was it covered under warranty? Ours is also less than one year old. Apparently, according to Marshall, the Door side regulators have to be 30 lb regulators. Our original Fairview regulator on the door side was 20 lb.

My search (of GR-618) showed the regulator is a Gas-Flow GR-618 and is an 18# regulator. Here's one of the links with the info:

http://www.wildcatcamperforum.com/t3921-regulatorsagain

If you read further down in the link, someone reports that the GR-618 is no longer made and is replaced with a GR-630 (30psi) regulator. This is similar to many of us who have replaced the 18# Marshall with a 30# marshall on the far side (passenger side for my rig). The changeover on my rig is on the driver's side and the far side plugs into one of the connections. The other connection of the changeover goes directly into the QCC connector (the big one you tighten with your hand) and into the propane bottle on the driver's side.

Dui,
My valve was the dual stage changeover valve on the drivers side. I did not waste my brain cells trying to get it covered under warranty. I bought my rig in Elkhart and not a home dealer. The dealer in Elkhart has been non responsive to other request so I just went down and bought the valve from a trailer dealer near home for under $30. It would have cost me more than that to tow the rig to any dealer in my area. Sometimes it is easier to just fix things yourself and much quicker.

Thanks for the info on the GR-618 Art. The one on the passenger side is an 18 psi regulator so I guess I am either lucky or just have to wait a little bit longer for either the one or both to fail.

Well folks, just got the trailer from the dealer. Dealer replaced the pigtails from the regulator to the tanks and it fixed the problem. Apparently there is a check valve in these pigtails that may become stuck and not allow flow on high demand. Does this sound real? I thought for sure it was the regulator.
