Hydraulic slide out pump

I'm looking to buy a camper that has hydraulic slide outs. When the slide goes all the way out why does the pump continue to run for a little while the owner acted like it's never happened and he said the camper has been sitting for 3 years

We've had four hydraulic slides for 6 years of full timing. I'd check to make sure the oil reservoir is full. Also, look around it for leaks. The pump should shut off when the presure increases, so to me there is something wrong. Whatever is causing it, it's not normal.

Hi

The pump will run as long as you hold the switch in the on position. When all slides reach their full extension or retraction you can hear a change in the sound of the pump that is the pressure relief valve opening so you don’t damage anything. It is not recommended to hold the switch for an extended period of time.

On ours the pump stops instantly when the switch is released.

A soon as you release the slide out switch the pump stops immediately.

Sorry, was reading this wrong and thought the pump continued to run and the slides weren't out. Would have deleted the post, but can't figure out how to do that. The others are right, release the switch and the pump should stop.

Sitting for 3 years ... the wall switch may have momentarily stuck or the contactor on top of the pump may have momentarily stuck. That DC relay is commonly referred to as a "Trombetta" which is really a brand. Both could be easily changed out individually. A camper sitting for 3 years is a lot like a car or boat sitting for 3 years ... it seems they go down hill quickly just left to themselves for that long. Look it over good and try everything out first.
