Wine Rack
OK, here is another one of the newbie questions. Our rig has a nice cabinet/wine rack. I'm a little concerned about traveling with wine in the rack. Does the wine ride there without bouncing out? I really don't want to clean up that kind of mess not to mention the loss of some nice wine.

Same here. That's the best place for it if your traveling and it's hot. Wine doesn't do well in a slideout going 10 hours thru the desert at 110 degrees particularly not for a couple of days at a time. You can guess how I know.

Thanks for the input. I thought it was kind of funny to have an open rack in a moving vehicle. Kampn, if we are ever in the same neighborhood, we can definitely open a bottle together. You too Bigskyjimmy. By the way, if anybody is planning on going to the Western Regional at Seven Feathers in Oregon, it is really close to some fine wine country. I love California wines, but am quickly becoming a fan for that part of Oregon.

There IS a way to use it though. We wrap the bottles with packing foam (the kind of hard stuff that's still flexible) so they fit in tightly. While we've only used it for two or three bottles at a time, this does work. Then again, this is all LOML's wine - I keep my bottle of George D. in a much safer place!

We have the wine rack in our 353 and we leave the bottles in the rack when we travel. We have never had a problem. I admit I have thought about a bungee cord stretched across the top just to be sure, but no issues yet.(And we drive I-95 around Savannah)

Southern Oregon has some very good wineries and several good ones are nearby. I'm sure there will be some wine tasting planned.

We pack ours in the cases we buy them in (Costco & Sams-great prices/selections/& all the boxes you need). We used to keep them in a cabinet, but have been carrying them in the bottom of the tub. One broke once having them wrapped & in a cabinet before we started using the boxes. Now if they ever do break, wine is down the drain, glass is easy to clean up, wine is easy to get to after a long travel day, and there is less weight in the cabinet.

How do you remove the rack? To us it is useless.

Screw wine racks. We're no longer wine snobs....we now buy box wine. These hold the equivalent of 4 bottles of wine and are about $12 each. No muss, no fuss. And damn, that wine is good! Whenever we share it, we get compliments.

X2. I laughed out loud when I read your post. We prefer the box and I'm not sure I would know "good" wine if I tasted it. We've had some nice wines for special occasions and such, but they never seem as good as the box. We're not alky's by any means, but enjoy a glass before bed or with dinner and the box is sufficient! Also easy to pack and travel with
