RV Resorts around Twin Cities Minn.

I am looking for suggestions on RV parks to spend the summer in around the Twin Cities Minn. Will be going full time in the coach until house sells in Iowa. Any suggestions on a park within an hour drive of the cities? Thanks!

Dave, the nicest one is at Dakotah Meadows (Mystic Lake) Not cheap but a very nice park. There is one also in Woodbury that used to be a KOA. Closer to your work but again, not cheap.

Mystic lake is a very nice casino and as Helen mentioned is is not cheap. There is a newer camp ground in the northern suburbs that has great reviews called Bunker Hills Regional park.It is in Coon Rapids and the sites looked very private online.Just another idea for you.

Thank you both for the suggestions! I had hoped the house would have sold by now, but we all know how that goes. Will have to make a trip to both of these parks this afternoon to check them out. Thanks again!

Dave, the Bunker Hills Regional Park is a very nice campground. It is just a few blocks from where we used to live in Coon Rapids but it is a County Park and just like the Lake Elmo Regional Park we spent a lot of time there... The only problem is that they are not full hook up... NO sewer or water... 30 amp electric and a 7 day maximum stay.. We do stay there a lot when we return to Minnesota; especially the one at Lake Elmo since our kids live in that area but every four days we had to go to the dump station and fill up with fresh water...What I used to do was stay at Lake Elmo for 4/5 days then go a mile or so to the St Paul East (former KOA) and stay a few days to catch up on laundry etc. before moving back to Lake Elmo... Our Doctors were in Coon Rapids so we would move to Bunker Hill when we had appointments. That gets old really fast even though the campsites are really nice... There is another that we have stayed at in Ham Lake but it is hard to get on the full hook up list.

Now we just bite the bullet and stay at Dakotah Meadows and pay the price...

Thanks Helen! Looks like I'll be booking the next 6 months at Mystic Lake Casino - hoping for a nice back in site that is away from the weekend pull thru's.

The only back in are at the top of the hill Dave.. About a dozen or so... All others are really nice pull-thrus.

Looks like we will be seeing you there soon.. We should be there sometime in May.. We have other friends that will be there also but in a SOB. Should be fun. They have spectacular fireworks on the 4th. Some of the best we have seen and you don't have to fight the crowds.

Maybe they have a monthly rate that brings the per day cost down?

For example, the site we are in right now, a very nice site in a quiet park, is $39/night. For 30 nights that would be $1,170. But we're here for a month and our monthly rate for full hookups, 50 amp, excellent cable tv, and fast wifi is $375 plus electricity at $0.11062 per kwh. I figure our total will end up about $450, or about $15 per night. We're using electric heat and very little propane.
