What's the odds

My brother, age 62, has been an avid golfer for about twenty odd years. Last week he got his first hole-in-one. It was a nice day so they decided to play another 18 holes. When he got to the same hole where he got the hole-in-one, you guessed it, he hit another hole-in-one. I don't have any idea of what the odds would be for something like that.

I have to believe that your brother is very lucky.

Wow! That is something. Let us know if you ever find out what the odds are. It would be very interesting. Did he do the "Drinks for everyone"? Twice?

I'll bet he will be very happy for a very long time.

The odds of making two holes-in-one on the same 18 hole round is 9,222,000 to 1. On a given round, you would have 17 more chances to repeat the feat. But making a hole-in-one on the same hole on the very next round, you would have only one chance of doing it. seems like the odds would be much greater.

Here is what i got from the golf digest labs on golf odds, the first one is close to what he did with just adding a extra round. Did not see those exact odds.

Two aces in a single round, same player: 67 million to 1

Three aces in a single round, same player: 2 trillion to 1

A player making an ace in a given round: 5,000 to 1

Acing a designated hole in a single round: 20,000 to 1

Acing the same hole more than once in 1,000 rounds:1 in 200

Getting an ace in a 1,000-round career: 1 in 5

Getting an ace in a 5,000-round career: Almost a sure thing

Two players, same foursome, acing same hole: 17 million to 1

Two players in a field of 200 acing same hole in a single round: 5,000 to 1

Lstierw,
Thanks for posting those figures. Wow! Some odds he beat. Hope he plays the Lotto!
