Extra Storage 3670RL

Some might have already made this improvement but here it is anyway. We took the fake panel out from under the stove and frig. and installed a hinged oak panel to access this area for storage. There isn't anything in either of these places so it is excellent for extra storage like pots and pans.

Someone not only took the fake panel out but also put in a drawer. I can recall seeing pictures and I am sure it was here on the MOC.

We have wondered if there was anything behind those panels, now we know. How did you go about getting a matching wood door? Sounds like an excellent project.

We're also interested in putting in a door in this/these locations and would like pointers on where to find the doors. Thanks.

I think it was Billy Ray that did all the cabinet work. Just look in the phone book for a cabinet shop, measure the space and take tham a door to copy.

Under "Montana Problems & Technical Help" there is a post "space under oven" dated Sept 5 by grey-ghost asking pretty much the same question. On Sept 7 "Gruffy" answered on what he had done. He also sent pictures. The reason I know is I printed everything out so when my husband does mine he can see exactly how to do it.

WELL!! After I posted that message I clicked on "Search" to find the post but it couldn't find it . I don't know if I did it wrong or what but I do have them printed out so I have all the topic and dates.

My next suggestion would be to maybe send Gruffy a private message or a e-mail. The pictures are really great and very helpful.

This is a GREAT idea....and it was Gruffy who did a phenomenal job on his rig. Here's a link to Gruffy's work and modifications. Hope it works. If not, maybe Gruffy will come along and post his pictures again.

I went to Lowes and bought a piece of oak 2 x 8 x 6 and cut out my own fronts. I used a table saw to cut the edge angle and sanded them. I then used minwax finish to match the rest of the cupboards.

hi,
after the install i ran some experiments this summer, monitoring temperature under the oven with my add a door shut. room temperature was in the sevenites, while we baked some bread, followed by a pizza. air temperature in the space need exceeded 100 degrees F. wall temperature in the space of the oven got as high as 145 degrees, both of which are well below the ignition temperature of paper, in case you wanted to know ...
