Kentucky Bourbon Trail

OK--we are in Kentucky for the first time and will be near Louisville in a few days. According to the guys at the Kentucky Visitor's Center, the Kentucky Bourbon Trail is close--hey--he was RIGHT! Plan for the DW to drive, I will sample. Any suggestions for best distillery to sample?? I will only accept the first 50 responses!

Understand some of those are in dry counties and they don't serve samples?

Have fun!

The best boubon made hicup is in a hicup dry county hic so sampling may have to be hicup with a brown bag you hic bring with you hic hic.
Go figure, you might hicup try finding a still hicup back in the woods hicup and see if they hicup will provide you with a hicup sample of hooch, white lightning, exliar, whatever.

Do they make anything else?

I' m in Tennessee right now with local brew, just sitting under a Oak tree between the trailer and a graveyard (it is quiet at night) G

Buffalo trace is one of our favorites along with Woodward Reserve. Both have nice tours. Wild Turkey only gave us some candy made with their bourban. Yes, we have gone to most of them

While we where there we really enjoyed the tour of the Louieville Bat Factory and Churchhill downs. The vistors center right in Louieville is great also. Has a great display of Cornel Sanders stuffed. Get pic. Not what your looking for but great places to visit. They have these choc. marshmellow candies to die for in that area. Forgot what they are called. Also burbon balls! A shot of burbon and choc all at once. They sell them at the visitors center.

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail Report
Toured from the Northwest end heading South east.
Visited Jim Beam-First; Heaven Hill-Second; Maker's Mark-Third
Best Tour--Maker's Mark
Best Lunch Spot--Toll Gate Cafe at Maker's Mark
Bourbon Samples--2 or 3 samples at each distillery! No Dry Counties, Yes a little candy after the bourbon sample.
Recommendation: Don't miss it.

Also Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs
Toured it with 2 special tours--Barns & Backside and Millionaires Tour
Don't miss this museum--it looks brand new and is really great
Best part--our guides were true horse racing fans from Louisville--I think they would have done this for free--it was great!

If you have more time, try and visit Abe Lincoln's area as well. Bourbon abounds and tasters are everywhere! Enjoy!
