Need help finding U.P. Michigan campgrounds

Hi! We are hoping to go to the U.P. of Michigan this summer, but we are having trouble locating a nice full-hookup campground fronting on Lake Superior.
It appears that all the state and national parks have less than full hookups.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

That is true, the Michigan State parks, with the rare exception, do not have full hookups, and the power is rarely 50 AMPS.

We rarely stay in public parks in Michigan, and just do the no hookup thing at the State Parks.

Our state parks in the UP are quite beautiful.

I can advise against ONE park up there, which is a KOA near St. Ignace. Our experience was less than stellar at that particular park.

We did stay in a city park in Marquette that was pleasant, would stay there again.

And, if you can stay in Munising, and love to hike and waterfalls, you are in for a treat! Also Pictured Rocks there. We did stay in a public park there, but so many years ago, don't remember name or details.

Of course, do not miss the Falls, Newberry. Seems we stayed in a public park there as well, but, again, way to long ago, so I cannot remember.

Island State Park, DO IT! if only for a few days, and visit the other parks in the area.

I did not put the rest of that tour online, if you are interested, I have a word file on it. Email me if you want the document.

Some of this is close enough to each other that you could do day trips.

We stayed a week at Gitche Gumee Rv Park & Campground in Marquette. Full hook-ups, no cement pads. The park is right across the road from Lake Superior. Big beautiful beach. We would stay there again as the U.P. has limited full hook up parks. We have stayed at the Tiki in St. Ignance and would not do that again, the site that would fit out 5th wheel was so uneven it was a nightmare to even try and stabilze for the 1 night we were there. p.s. they also have free firewood, and you can have a campfire right on the beach.

Larry.
If you want out-of-the-way, try Sunset View Campground (906-337-2494) on the Keweenaw Peninsula near Copper Harbor.
It's a nice little campground with full hook-ups. Our site, EWS 30 amp was 15 feet from the lake and secluded. $25/night. It's also near a ferry to Isle Royale National Park.
