the old backing up question

I know you have all probably heard this question a zilliion times but here it is one more time. I am having a very difficult time judging when to start the trailer turning into a site. Do you start when the trailer gets to the edge or when the tires do or halef way in between. I get just a little embarrassed pulling up and back a dozen times when I know there has to be a rule to this a guideline I have looked everywhere on the inter-net but to no avail
Can anyone help Please?!?!?!
