mgda,
Thanks for the site. If you click on the map right at the top of the Sea of Cortez onto a little town called Puerto Penasco and click on the pictures and to to the Playa de Oro CG .... You'll see the picture of the Green Bar.... with a beach in the foreground. We were camped about 30 yards from that area in February of this year. The entire beach area there was covered with an awning and they were serving Free fish and Beer! This CG does this every year at Valentines day weekend. Our timing was perfect!

Thanks for the link.

Hamrad did you enjoy the cg. Did you go with a caravan or just yourselves?? I`ve got about 10 campgrounds in Mexico bookmarked that really look nice. One day I`ll get there, but still have a couple years till retirement. I`ll check out the cg -thx

mgdg,
You did read the part about FREE BEER and FREE Fish? Right? Yes. We enjoyed our few days there. We traveled down with a friend. The CG is literally on the beach. It was very close quarters. We had to ask a couple of folks to move their vehicles so we could park. But EVERYONE is friendly! They are there to have fun and so no hassles at all. One night it was a bit noisy due to lots of fireworks... but only until about PM.

We will probably go back again next year. But we will stay at a boondocking place west of town. Or at a CG very close to the boondocking area. It is just west of the high rise condos! What a strange sight. In the middle of the desert to see these 12 or 15 story buildings!

By the way.... do not go down there during Spring Break! I guess it gets really crazy.

Enjoy.

HamRad, good to know about the CG during Feb - we stayed there last year right before spring break (you heard correct but crazy is mild)leaving soon after the kids arrived. The funniest thing we saw were all the unfinished house, finally someone told us if they stayed unfinished they didn't have to pay taxes.

Safe travels.
