Kitchen Sink Drain

We have a 2019 3121RL anniversary edition. While I was dewinterizing and draining lines, the kitchen sink water drains out thru the outside drain even with the gray water valve closed. The Bathroom sink and shower works correctly. Any suggestions on what could be the cause?

There is a separate tank for the galley. The drain handle is located along the frame on the driver's side near the wheels, It is obviously open. The two drains in the convenience center are for the black and shower tanks.

We found the drain and was open. Wondering why these Galley tank handles are put in difficult places. With all the improvements being made, why not have galley handle with the gray and black handles and have labeled Galley pull. Seems this would be a good selling point. We have had 2 toy haulers, a Palomino Puma and XLR Nitro and did not have a galley tank on those and of course like so many others was not mentioned to us during the walk around.

2019 3121 Same problem. Ours was closed off, and could not open it to drain. Bought a Valtarra 10ft cable, drilled a hole close to the factory grey valve (be carful of the location) and installed it close to the factory grey valve. The factory cable is 6ft long and not a very easy job, it takes two people, but it can be done. I now have a black, and two grey dumps next to each other. The cost was $ 36.04 Amazon, the dump valves that Montana uses is LaSalle Bristol. The cable fits fine into it. One more thing be care full of the island and shower drains ours leaked. The sink and shower couplings weren't tight. The sink I used plumbers putty, the shower I used the "white" PVC thread sealant.

We don’t either, but by reading some other Posts it sounds like have 2 gray tanks. Our specs say we have a 88 gallon capacity, so may have 2 44gallon tanks. Sure can’t find out from any diagrams.

If you had an 88 gallon tank for the shower and the galley drains you would be replacing your tank every week or so because the tanks are not strong enough to hold 766 lbs for one thing and the two tanks are much easier to install than a single tank. Even with the present two tanks you will find that if you fill them FULL you will eventually have a problem and the tank will burst and you don't want that to happen especially with the black tank. I just went through a grey tank and valve change and also a black tank valve change and believe me it is not a fun thing to do and not a cheap problem to solve either.

On our rig, per the specs, we have 93 gallons of grey capacity, and 53 gallons of black capacity. The bath grey and black tanks are identical, so the bath grey is 53 gallons and what's left is 40 gallons for the galley tank capacity. The grey and black tanks are installed next to each other in the drop frame area, and the galley tank is above the axles on our rig.

Bob, you and I have the same model. Have you ever braced the galley and fresh water tanks. I have braced the black and gray and thinking of bracing the fresh water tank.

I have a 3120 and on our first use was surprised as you were to find the sink draining directly out to the hose connection. Because the cap leaks, I had to hook up tbe drain (it was 25 f outside on our first stop south). I had located tbe galley valve pull earlier (posted picture in another thread of where it is hidden) but found it was stuck open. I purchased some lubricant spray and over the next two days got it working well. It is a mystery to me why they put the gallery valve pull where it is and why the dealer believed it did not exist (said there was only 1 grey tank). Other than the annoyance of a few minor problems we have encountered on our first 4 wk trip, I really, really, really like this coach!

I have same year and model. I located the second valve in front of the middle stabilizer jack.

Thanks JP and Weeda for that. Ours is in front on Middle stabilizer and tires as well. We went by dealer yesterday and informed them of our problem of not knowing anything about the Galley tank and Valve Pull, but with all the help from fellow members on this Forum, we found out what we needed. I agree what a difficult place to have. We looked at several Montana's on the lot with one of the sales associates and all of us were amazed that nearly every model had it a different place. Several now have near the drain and is easily visible. Some have a square box you open up and is inside, so they are making improvements. Even though had problem with this, some other Brands are even more difficult. We also are very pleased with our Montana and is just a learning process sometimes. Most others did have a sticker for Gray Tank in area, but ours did not.

My 2019 3761FL has all 4 tank pulls in one location near the rear level leg. Nice but the hydraulic lines must be pushed a little aside to get at one handle.

Galley Gray Tank issues

Bob,
The Monty newbie here again. Do you know if it's possible to use a longer Valterra cable to replace the OEM cable on the galley gray tank ? I am finding it very inconvenient to crawl under the extended slide to pull the 40 gallon galley tank, so I want to route a longer pull cable closer to, or inside, the convenience center. Have you swapped out the galley tank cable, or changed to a direct-pull approach ?
Also, a question on the self-tapping screws holding up the Chloroplast: any suggestions on replacements, both on type and sources ?
Best regards,
Eric on the Left Coast
