Lassen National Park

We have friends who will be doing their first stint as campground hosts. They will be at Butte Lake in Lassen. Anyone been there and know how the campsites and interior roads are? Hate to go on roads that are too narrow in campgrounds..especially if trees are close to the roads. I've seen a number of RV's with the sides taken out as the RVers couldn't navigate the tight turns. Arggh.

We went through Lassen last summer, but didn't stay in the park, we moved on the Burney Falls. Lassen is a treasure! Staying on the main roads worked for us, a 30' travel trailer and a 34' 5th wheel. We didn't go the the interior roads that lead to Butte Lake, but it's on my bucket list! Maybe someone can report on the road that leads from the main road to Butte Lake.

Did some backpacking in that area many years ago. The road from the main highway to Butte Lake is improved dirt. It has been graded, but it is dirt. If your friends could do a recon before the go, it might be a good idea. The road is closed most times till the end of May, depending on the snow.
