Ladder repair

I went out a steep driveway and drug the bottom of my ladder and it broke where the bottom u shape piece attached to ladder. I bought a piece of half-inch EMT conduit and cut two 12 inch pieces. I slid one 12 inch piece up inside each side and then slid the U-shaped piece back on over the EMT conduit. I drilled a quarter inch hole where the existing bolts were attached . I also drilled quarter-inch holes about 1 1/2 inches above where the seam is and put 1/4“ x 20 stainless steel screw with Nylok nut on. It is now stronger than before.

Thanks for the repair Russ! I did nearly the same thing and have to repair mine also. Will follow your instructions and material list and get mine done as soon at I get back to the sticks and bricks.
