Dometic Rm2862 not cold

Hello everyone, my Dometic 2862 is not cold it's just cool. We're having hot weather here so I'm assuming that's part of the problem. The ambient temperature is around 107. I have inferred temp gun and my temps on the fins in the fridge are around 40 mid day and 30 at night. My freezer is around 2 to 5 degrees. My thermister is at the top of the last right fin.I hear my condenser fan cycling on and off though out the day so I know that's working fine. Any other ideas or suggestions what I can do to help keep my temp colder for now. When I get home I'll be ordering a rv refrigerator fix by smart RV products so this doest happen again. Thanks you.

Do you know what the box temperature is in relation to the fin temps you described? If I understand you to say that you are experiencing 107degree temps outside, (which is pretty hot) and the frig is running between 40 midday and 30 at night, I would not be concerned if it was my rig. I just don't know how fin temp correlates to box temp which is why I asked if you know your box temps. Our dometic is not the same model, but we run box temps 36-39 during the day, bump ups a bit during the defrost cycle to 41-42 and usually 35-36 when we get up in the morning with high 90s outside. Easy cheap fix, go to Walmart, get a 4 inch 110 fan, place outside in the lower vent pointed straight up, to help push the heat up and out.

Are you running on AC or Gas?
Do you have a fan inside the refer?

Thank for the reply, I had no service while at the campground. My fins temp ranged from 30 to 44 throughout the day and box temp near the bottom was from 40 to 50. I'll try that 4 inch fan from Walmart and see if that helps before I spend 100.00 on RV refrigerator fix fan from smart RV products. Yes I'm on a/c and I don't have any fans on the inside of my fridge just the one on the external.

I had the same symptoms while on my trip earlier in August. If the freezer is frozen then the refer is working as it should. The fins in the lower portion are physically connected to the pan in the freezer, the fins do not have any refrigerant in them.

I had to move the refer fan in the lower part as it was blowing on the thermistor on the fins. Once I did that all returned to normal. If you were having trouble while on elect you can switch to gas and get the fluid going quick. Later switch back to elect and all should be good.

A full refer is better than one partially full. The lower part depends on convection for cool circulation. The little battery fans in the bottom help.

We camped in 114 deg heat with both gas and elect operation of the refer. I do not have any fans moving air over the outside coils. Convection there only also.

Again if the freezer is frozen your refer is working.
